Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi,
i bought a home trainer for my bicycle last year called tacx i magic which has software that has to be installed before it works properly.
however during the installation a message comes up the screen"error opening file for writing "c:\program files\ffdshow.ax"

it states that i can skip this but it will not work properly without it.
i have tried un installing and re installing a few times but to no avail.

my o s is windows vista

i would appreciate and help or direction i need to go to get this resolved as it will be a long winter without it and a more productive one with it

Are you running this install on an admin account, or a user account?

Do you get a security popup when the install starts?

Does the file/folder already exist, is it read-only?

Can you try installing this on an XP machine, is there a version that is vista compliant on the vendor website?

check the box to see what version of windows it will work with as you may need to run it in a comaptibilty mode

does it have hardware, as the drivers for it may be the problem, check the vendors website for update drivers too

if you can't cleanly uninstall, consider a system restore to be sure you have removed all traces so you when you try to install again it will be a clean install.

    You have uninstalled the app?
Are you sure the app directory is FULLY gone from the c:\program files\ dir?

By the way, its unusual to see a dir called "ffdshow.ax"
It anything it should be like:
    "c:\program files\ffdshowax"
    or
    "c:\program files\ffdshow"

You should NEVER get just a file slapping itself into the "c:\program files" directory!

"ffdshow" is a video codec tool/file by the way.

found it hard to follow the thread, but i'm guessing your laptop has integrated graphics whereas the app seems to require a dedicated graphics card?
