Teenage Girls Suicide Jump

The pair plunged more than 100ft from the Erskine Bridge shortly before 9pm last night.

Scotland's Daily Record newspaper is reporting that the pair were teenage girls who were seen holding hands as they leapt.

They were pulled from the River Clyde near the bridge after a search involving police, fire and rescue services, a Coastguard helicopter and the Ministry of Defence.

The Erskine Bridge connects Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire and is a notorious suicide spot.

A Coastguard source told the Record: "The information that we have is that it was two teenagers and that they held hands as they jumped from the bridge.

"They were clearly in the water for a long time and it is very rarely that anyone lives after a fall like that."

Just seen it on Sky news. Terrible. I believe they were young teenagers, what was going thru their minds, God only knows. I wouldn't be surprised that school bullying drove them to it. What their parents must feel wouild be undescribable I'm sure.

Im always interested to hear people's views on Suicide as its a subject close to my heart.

As another poster said AH is is not really the place for this type of news story.

As I said in my first post, this story really isn't After Hours material, what I meant was the subject of teen suicide, this is a light hearted sub-forum, for piss-takes and what have you.

If you actually wanted to discuss this seriously, why not throw it over to Humanities or such?

If you are not referring to me , why quote my post. Read through the thread and find where I was trying to be funny about suicide.

Where in the thread have I made a stupid or childish remark?

I looked at the thread to see if there was something worth reading about in it. I posted what I thought because I felt that the OP was posting it in AH to get a reaction.
