I recently discovered that I have a problem with my chimney -I pulled off some plasterboard and discovered that soot had leaked through the wall behind it- and have been told that it will have to be re-lined. I need to have a new stove installed in a few weeks and this is a cost I hadn't factored in. Is there an alternative?

If you are installing a stove, have you included a flexi-flue for it? That might do the job, but maybe check with a chimney specialist to be sure.

Thanks a million-I will check it out as I ahve been quoted E2400 for re-lining the chimney from a chimney specialist-who, by the way, did not mention a flexi-flue! It's way too much for my budget at the moment anyway. Do you think the flexi-flue would be as expensive?

Best thing is to contact mi flues in summerhill for advice and a price.

There is a link for flexi liner.

Don't forget you'll need an adaptor to connect the flue from the stove to the liner.

And remember dont reduce the diameter of the chimney to less than the flue outlet on the stove!

Would need about the same length myself-it's an old house, a storey and a half. Will definitely check this out. I wouldn't chance it myself but maybe I could get a handyman/person to install it. Thanks for the heads up.
