Persistance pays off

Around this time last year my fuel pump went in VW Passat Tdi. It set me back just over the €400 euro mark to be towed, replaced and fitted by a main VW dealer outside of Dublin.

Now one year later I have been refunded the full amount in full by that VW dealer. I never got an apology but in writing but I got my money back simply because VW Ireland insisted I was entitled to it. A big lesson for me was forget about the phone and go straight to pen and paper. Its the only way.

So if your like me and you had to pay for your fuel pump replacement ring the VW Ireland warranty section even if your warranty has expired. Once this part is faulty it will be replaced free of charge. If you had it replaced with a genuine part and had to pay for it yourself, you are entitled to a refund once you can prove you bought it from VW.

So all in all persistence pays off.

    Was it under warranty?

No it was out by about 6 months. But it has failed in so many that they did a recall on certain models pre mid '06 I believe.
