    Hi Folks,

    Have a BMW 318 ci '00 1.9 petrol

Starved her of oil by accident and the engine literally just stopped working !
She had been losing oil for quite a while and I thought I was topping her up sufficiently but.....apparently not. Report is it is shot, dead , bye bye, need a new engine.
    Few Questions

    1. Can an engine be fixed ?

    2. Where is the best place to get a replacement engine ?

    3. Can anyone tell me roughly how much this is going to cost ?

    4. Can anyone recommend someone who does a lot of BMW's ?

    cheers

Dont know where you are but theres a guy in Abbeyfeale in Limerick who specialises in BMW's. He was mentioned here a while back, Ger Collins 068-32404. There may be a few new numbers to put in after the prefix, but if you ring you'll get an automated message as to what they are. Good luck and tough luck!

Your old engine is most likely seized, so you'd need to remove it, and have it fully rebuilt.

    Otherwise source a replacement lump.

    Either way it's serious bobs.

    Ger Collins Abbeyfeale website:
    http://www.bavarianautotechnik.com/

He might be able to source you an engine.

Or failing that you may have to go to the UK:

    http://www.fabdirect.com/

My personal opinion is that a phone call rather than an e-mail is best for dealing with these type of issues.

Might be worth a phone call to Gala Engineering near Dunshaughlin. They specialise in engine rebuilds.

New engine is probably your best bet. Along with the above names of where to ring there is http://www.traynors.biz/ up north. I've heard a lot of good things about these people.
