Ok i know this thread or something similiar has prob been done a thousand times (so has that intro).

What i'm looking for are some great albums that are not in your everyday top 100.

I dont want your ''Sgt.Peppers'' or ''the wall''.

I do a small radio show for a limited station and am sick of playing the same things over and over.

I'm tired of thinking that i have all the great albums so suprise me.

My tastes take in everything from folk to house so go nuts.

The Cars first album. Opening track is Let the good times roll. Says it all. Used to listen to it every Friday night with the mates before we went out. Play it in the car now and my 2 boys love it :) (8 + 5 yr old).

Funkadelic by Funkadelic - despite the name, they're more like a psychedelic rock band with bits of funk, soul and gospel put it.

Zombie by Fela Kuti - a mix of jazz and funk from an African point of view, it's great.

A Divina Comedia Ou Ando Meio Desligado by Os Mutantes - I'd call them a Brazilian version of the Beatles. They've a really varied style and it's hard to pin down exactly.

The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra by Sun Ra - new age jazz. At times it's very much like traditional jazz but at others it's miles removed.

MT USA classic 80's that everyone will like.

I tend to vary between the same set of songs for a while, then move to others.

House of Wolves by My Chemical Romance (From the Black Parade album)

I'm Outta Time by Oasis (From Dig Out Your Soul)

Let's All Make Believe by Oasis (B-side of Go Let it Out)

Jailbreak by AC/DC (From one of those AC/DC live albums)

New York Groove by Ace Frehley

You Gotta Move by Aerosmith (From the Honkin on Bobo album) - I love the groove in this song.

I Get Around by the Beach Boys

Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys

    Flame by Bell X1

    Coffee and TV by Blur

The Only One I know by the Charlatans

She Bangs the Drums by The Stone Roses

Wake up Call by Maroon 5

I Just Wanna Live by Good Charlotte

Kick Start My Heart - Motley Crue

    A few of my faves...

    Tupelo Honey - Van Morrison
More Stories about Buildings and Food - Talking Heads
Safe as Milk - Captain Beefheart
Frank's Wild Years - Tom Waits
    Tapestry - Carol King
    Horses - Patti Smith
    Chelsea Girl - Nico
Hot Shots II - The Beta Band
    Desire - Bob Dylan
This is Buddy Guy - Buddy Guy

But loads of early rock'n'roll artists didn't record albums and it's worth a trawl through some of the bigger name's back catalogue. Suppose it depends on what type of music interests you.

Gene Moss ~ Dracula's Greatest Hits (1964) - song parodies including "I Want To BITE Your Hand" and "Drac The Knife" are ideal for the Halloween programme. Great studio band backing - not cheesy.

The Deadly Ones ~ It's Monster Surfing Time (1964) - mostly instrumentals, great for voice-overs and Halloween shows

The Royaltones ~ Our Faded Love - sappy sax and Hammond organ instrumental ideal for voice-over segs into slow sets

The Tarantulas ~ Tarantula - rockin' guitar and organ instrumental great for intros and voice-overs

Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm ~ Sing Songs Of Christmas (1965) - "Snowflake" is one of the faves from that album

Mandatory Clutch recommendation. Pure Rock Fury being quite the deadly bit of kit. You can't go too far wrong with any album though!

    Some great albums mentioned already.

    Here are my 4:
    Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
(Far better than Songs in the Key of Life, the album that normally appears in Top 100s. If you think Stevie is just sickly sweet pop songs, listen to this)
Warren Zevon - Warren Zevon (great songwriting - really quirky)
Lloyd Cole - Rattlesnakes (great songs with great lyrics "Why must you tell me all your secrets when its hard enough to love you knowing nothing")
3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of ... Arrested Development (Great mix of HipHop and soul. Also in this category and also very good : The Miseducation of ... Lauryn Hill)

Always on my Mind - Pet Shop Boys

If you like this version of Always on my mind there's something wrong with you. I'm no musical snob but this truly is unacceptable. It's a ****in travesty someone did that to an Elvis song.

Other than that, I'm checking out some of your other suggestions. Always open to new music.

    Some of my suggestions would be;
    Fancy Footwork - Chromeo
Voodoo and Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
    Statues - Moloko
    Stereo MC's - Connected
