    Has it aways been the case that you cannot post quotes alone. That there must be at least 1 character outside the quotes. Otherwise I get a "you must post at least 1 character..." etc etc.

    It's been like this since vB3 IIRC. Just stick a full stop or somesuch after the quote.

    Another nice tip is if you dont want to bother clicking quote on the last post, you can click the tickbox beside 'Quote message in reply?'

    It save a little time when you need to reply fast to the previous poster.

    It's on the bottom of the quick-reply text box, not the post itself. So hit quick-reply on the post you want to reply to and then tick the box when you're redirected to the quick-reply box and presto :)
