I need a basic hifi but haven't a clue!

1st post here so please don't bite

I want to buy a stereo system, the old one is caput after many years use. A good fm radio plus cd player is all I'd use tbh. USB slot might be handy also.

I've no idea of what sort of power I should get. The room is a decent size.

A good mini system might do the trick maybe. Any suggestions?

I came across an LG FA-163 system going for €134 plus shipping on Pixmania.ie.

Seems to do the trick. Any thoughts?

do you have an ipod, cus that LG has a ipod dock and you'll be paying about 30e of that price for that. Also it plays DVD, is this something that you need your hifi to do? Do you have a seperate dvd player?

Yeah I do have an ipod. Just ordered a FA163 from Pixmania. Just under €160 delivered.

Compared to the Panasonic one you mentioned the LG has:-

1/. DAB
2/. 2x80 watts RMS
3/. A pair of separate subwoofers.

I'll report if it's any good after delivery.
