I think Michael Bradly is the man for the job ;););););););););););););););)

As far as I know Gaffney and Kurt have ruled themselves out, so will certainly be an external appointment.

I think McGeehan is being touted as possible candidate, not sure how I'd feel about that...if he somehow became available, I'd love Guy Novès as coach! The Jose Mariniho of rugby...amazing coach and great charecter. Am I correct in saying he unoffically turned down the French job to stay with Tolouse? Either him or Kidney would be my first choices :o No hope of either obviously.

Wouldn't suit Leinster, but he's a good coach.

No, he's a good manager, which I think is a pretty important distinction. I think he would have done a good job back when Leinster were in disarray (so when Cheika joined basically), but he wouldnt suit now.

    Fair point.

Can't imagine it being an Irish coach.

If it is then it has to be Bradley, maybe if he proves himself with the Ire As this year it will help his cause. Who would get the Connacht job then?

Why are you talking like it even might be Bradley?

It won't be Bradley. End of.

Unless Leinster actually want him. He can't/won't be forced on us by the IRFU, he didn't go to Munster or Ulster so there's no reason why he'd have to come to Leinster.

Well, I kinda assumed that scenario wouldn't materialise!

I very much doubt it somehow! I'd say Mick Dawson is well on top of things anyway, I'm not that worried tbh.

He's the most qualified Irish coach available, hasn't he has only signed a one year contract with Connacht

Old Boys network might get him the job ;)

    Bradley my hole.

Blood will flow through the streets of Ballsbridge if Bradley is announced as manager. It won't happen.

I doubt Leinster will have any trouble getting a big name from the Southern Hempisphere. I can't really think of any manager turning down coaching the best club in the Northern Hemisphere currently with what I assume would be a substantial pay rise

Leinster will get who they want, they're the HEC champions. They have a lot going for them. The certainly won't have Bradley forced upon them. They have expressed an interest in an Irish coach, but once McQuilken stated his disinterest that was the end of the road methinks. Outside of DK, he's the most succesful coach within his remit - he's in charge of Leinster's defence and they've had Europe's best defence last season and so far this season. He's doing very well. I'm not sure if he'd be head coach material but I'd give him a shot if he wanted. However, he doesn't so it's gonna go to a foreign coach.

Sorry for the bump but some strong rumours going around that Leinster have signed up Joe Schmidt as new head coach for next season.
He is currently assistant coach at Clermont Auvergne & former assistant coach of the Auckland Blues.

LEINSTER are believed to be close to completing a deal with Clermont Auvergne's New Zealand backs coach Josef Schmidt to replace head coach Michael Cheika, who is leaving the province at the end of the season.

While the branch refused to comment on yesterday's reports linking the Heineken Cup champions with Schmidt, it is understood that negotiations are at an advanced stage and due to be completed shortly.

Schmidt is in his third season with Clermont having previously worked with Clermont head coach Vern Cotter at Bay of Plenty and if he joins Leinster it would be the 44-year-old's first senior head coach position.
Last month, the province were strongly linked with Waikato's Ian Foster, but it is understood that the NZRU went to considerable lengths to persuade the highly-rated coach to stay in New Zealand.

They broached the subject of Cheika's departure during Setanta's analysis of the Leinster game last night. Williams, Francis & Toland had no answer. Williams went on to say that Cheika's preference is to stay on in Europe and not to return home. As a fluent French speaker France would be his preferred option according to Williams.

In fairness, Cheika'd do a decent job for a Top 14 team. Good connections in Ireland and Australia in regards to signings, and a good tactician to boot with a good long term vision.

Whoever gets him will be very lucky.
