    hi gang,
does anyone know the biggest external hard drive you can get without needing a power supply so it will run of the usb alone. And where would you get one online. cheers gang for any help.

I picked up a small 400GB USB only drive from ebay, works great, no need for a PSU.

When it comes to storage, I'm of the opinion you are better off going with a good name like WD or Seagate. I don't know if steve meant buy a good brand or no name brand off ebay.........
Have a look at this 500Gb drive from WD

I thought 500GB was the max you can get at the moment but just did a search & they appear to have moved up to 1TB now.

You can get 750GB and 640GB versions also from Dabs.

If you want to keep the price under €100 the 500GB version is very good and costs €80.56 with Dabs, a bit cheaper than Komplett. Not sure what the respective delivery charges are though.

Cheapest 500GB I've seen is this Iomega for €69 from Pixmania http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/2997752/art/iomega/iomega-select-500-gb-usb.html
I can't vouch for Iomega reliability, I'd probably pay a little extra and get the WD.
