Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,

Had a look around and cant find anything that helps. the problem is that the brother bought an e90 320d se. It has the buttons on the steering wheel for the phone answering but we cant get it working. Not sure if it needs to be activated, assumed it would be since the buttons are installed.

Dont know the pass key or anything, nothing is showing up.

    Any hints?

the buttons mean nothing unless bluetooth was installed as an option. the phone
buttons come standard on any car with a multi function wheel for controlling the stereo, most
of these in Ireland don't have bluetooth installed so the phone buttons do nothing

not if it isn't installed, no. It's about €1k to retrofit.

If the car has factory bluetooth then it'll have a little fin on the back of the roof.

as anan says, or if you go through options on the headunit, one of them is phone if bluetooth is installed. I'd seriously doubt that it is installed and whoever sold him the car failed to mention it.

i-drive is not required for bluetooth phone prep in BMW. the phone menu is available in both the idrive screen and the head unit pixel display if idrive is not fitted.

the quickist and easiest way to check for bluetooth is to pop open your arm rest.

if there is a holder for a phone, then you have it, if not then you dont.

dont mind the fin or steering wheel items as the steering wheel is an option and includes the phone button either way and the roof shark fin can be installed afterwards.

basically you need to be seeing something very similar to this - finished.jpg

Just to further complicate matters, the cradle is an accessory - the car may have bluetooth and have a blanking plate where the cradle should be.

A parrot retrofit is one option. You'll find some examples here -

E-bay is also an option. Not too tricky to fit.
