If you youtube police brutality you will see an awful lot worse then that...

try look for the teenage boy who fell off a bridge & was tasered while he lay unconscious on the ground (about 15 times I think) to the extent that he couldn't even get emergency surgeory that he needed because he lost so many white blood cells...

Or the video of the old woman (I think about 80) who was wreastled to the ground in a carpark while she was just walking accross it...

Or the 15 year old girl who got her head bashed in my 2 MALE police for being a bit teenagery!!

Or the teenager who got her arm broken by the school security over crumbs (yes CRUMBS)

    Typical Irish attitude.

You really think the An Garda Siochana dont get their hands bloody? Oh yes Im sure they are all saints dont get me wrong, but take off the stout-stained glasses would you please.

I mean if you want to engage in a lively debate about the nature of police brutality by all means. But theres a few of you here who just seem to want to score points against the USA which youve wrongly labeled as your enemy. Probably in an attempt to forget that you have your own problems at home to deal with.

I completely agree... I had a friend who was walking home one night & he stopped to talk to some blokes he knew... the garda came & all the lads legged it except for my mate cos he was just walking home & they thought he had done somethin so they took him in the back of the van & beat him senceless... they put somethin over his face so there was not a bruise on the outside of his face... the whole inside was purple...

Other friend of mine who was probably more guilty (but didn't deserve a beating) got his knee broken... he still can't walk properly & that was 3 years ago...
There was a complaint made & NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT!

    Manhandling a couple people?
And you reckon that is the same thing as the outrages commited in the US?

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that there were levels of abuse of power and position that were OK as opposed to others.. I viewed them in the same ligh... ie. being wrong. So police officers may manhandle, but not abuse...... right... glad you clarified that.

However, my point is more along the lines that where ever you give people power (be it your Gardai or our Police) they will abuse it. You guys don't carry guns or tazers, if you did, I'm sure your abuses would probably be greater than "manhandling".

These idiots that think they are being cool or whatever being a belligerant asshole to the Police Officers have every intention of making a big enough scene. I have no sympathy for them when thye get arrested.

I don't feel all that sorry for them either, but the police are given a great deal of power and need to act within the bounds of the law.

With all due respect. **** THE ACLU. That is the biggest bunch of scumbags walking the face of God's Green Earth.

With equal respect, I'll quote NWA and say **** tha police. Specifically, the police that can't follow the law, and especially the ones that beat suspects, fabricate evidence, and otherwise act like dirtbags. There aren't many of them, thankfully.

No. Its stupid to swear to a Police Officer. Get it now?
So the cops should be allowed to assault people who swear at them? I guess you like the sound of jackboots kicking in peoples doors.

Oh come on; the US cops undoubtedly have quite a few black marks against their name (as do forces in many countries) but to call the US a fascist State is beyond silly.

Yeah I thought we covered that score already - in this very thread.

Though as the reporters point out, we are unaware of anything preceding this incident, bar the 2 seconds leading up to the tasering.

What about Fascist England? Fined 60 sterling for blowing your nose in Park; or fined 50 sterling for dropping a 10 sterling note on the ground?
