Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,
I am looking to upgrade my car in the upcoming months. Streling is good and I am willing to head to NI/Mainland UK for the right car.

I'd like to get something for 10000 but could push it to 11000/12000.

I currently drive a 00 1.4 Focus and was delighted with it...never had any problems.

I'm not sure what to get really, have considered a newer 1.6+ Focus or a newer model Mondeo but I have also looked at BMWs. I want a good safe car with good mileage.

I plan on giving my old car to my dad, but I would be certain he would give me his old car for scrappage.

Would love to hear all suggestions regardless of model.

Around what age of a car are you hoping to get? '06 - '07 etc? Would you prefer petrol or diesel or does it matter? Max engine size? Cars you DON'T want?

Also if you have a car for scrappage check the T&Cs as you may have to be the registered owner for a certain length of time.

I'd like to get a 06+ focus, or maybe a 04+ BMW. I was told diesel is the way to go at the moment and that petrols arent selling to well. Engine-wise 1.6-2.0 would be ideal.

Sorry, I'm not the biggest motor enthusiast but I'm trying :)

I'm not sure which I'd go for!

My father had a '04 BMW 318i and had 110,000 miles on it when he traded it in....t'was a faultless car. And lovely to drive. But that was petrol. I've heard to watch out for the turbo on the Diesel's.

My girlfriend has a '05 Focus but again petrol and its a smashing car to drive. I've heard the 1.6 diesel is the one to have and my girlfriend hopes to get one in the next year.

If its image you want go for the BMW but if you want your buck to go further I'd opt for the Focus.

Is that not a little optimistic?

All things being equal, I would probably prefer a higher spec/newer focus but I'm sure there are great BMWs/Audis well underpriced atm too.

Who are the best NI dealers for Ford/BMW?
