Wellcome Trust funding

So I'm trying to write an application for personal funding from the Wellcome Trust. It's a preliminary application so they only accept 2 A4 pages. I've heard that it's really difficult to get this funding (not surprising - it's hard to get funding anywhere), especially for an Irish researcher, but I want to increase my chances as much as possible. So what I'm wondering is if anyone has any tips for my application and if anyone has been successful with the WT? If you have been successful, would you be willing to share the application you had submitted? One tip I've heard so far is that they don't tend to fund cancer research due to the many other cancer specific funding agencies existing throughout the UK - therefore, if working on cancer research this would automatically shift the focus of the application.

Thanks in advance for any information!!
