    How can one be sure, in the current economic difficulties, that one's employer is paying appropriate returns in relation to PAYE/PRSI?

    You can'r be sure of this. However, just ensure that you keep your payslips detailing the tax and PRSI deductions and your P60s, which is all the proof you need if there ever is a problem
