More Muslims than Catholics

    Did anyone see in today's Irish Times the article about the report Mapping the Global Muslim Population? The Report estimates that there are 1.57 billion Muslims world-wide, representing 23% of the world's population. The Report uses the 2002 Census for Ireland, which means that it significantly understates the number of Muslims now in the country.

    Even the Vatican has had to admit that there are now more Muslims than Roman Catholics in the world. Subhanallah!

    There are still far more Christains.
    I don't see a point to this thread. Are you celebrating because you are bigger then a segment of Cristianity ?

    Most of the growth in the number of Muslims in Ireland since the 2002 census has come from immigrants and temporary residents rather than from births and conversions, so you can't argue that understating the number of Muslims in Ireland means that the global total is understated.

    There have been more Muslims than Roman Catholics for years, this isn't surprising to say the least.

    There are about 2 billion Christians in total however if we are to include non-RC forms of Christianity such as Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism.

    Your comparison is like saying that there are more people following Christianity in the world than Shia Islam.

    Is the reason for the numerical rise of Islam due to polygamy?. If Christians were allowed to have four wives at a time (and relative ease of divorce for men) I'm sure there would be a lot more Christians!:)

    truth is not found in statistics, when the Christian population started out, there were more Jewish than Christians, yet it doesnt stop Christianity from being true.
