My Samsung (Tocco Lite) won't recognise memory cards

I have tried two different Micro SD cards in my Samsung Tocco Lite (GT-S5230). The first was brand new, but the phone did not recognise it. I then formatted the card using my computer and put it in the phone again, but it still was not recognised.

I then took the Micro SD card from my friend's phone and put it into my phone. While it works perfectly on my friend's phone, my phone did not recognise this card either.

Can anyone please help me with this?

It's about a month old. No it never read the memory cards. My laptop reads the memory cards no problem. Yeah I'm dreading having to return it, coz I already had to have the battery replaced and that was a bit of a struggle coz I lost my receipt (stupid, I know!) Do you by any chance know what obstacles I'm likely to come against trying to get it repaired without a receipt?

hi, Have a look at the phones menu for the card/external memory and try to format it there.
