Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I was speaking to a guy from Germany last week and we were discussing world war two and the holocost. He told me that at the concentration camps the nazies had signs over the entrances of the Gas Chambers saying 'Mind your step.' Does anyone know if this is true?

Sure could be! Visited Auschwitz myself, the tour guide said the idea was to make the people who were going in to think that they were going to come back as so not to create panic.

They told them to remember where they left their shoes so they could get them after their "shower" and also write their name on their suitcase. All added to the effect of they were only having a shower made them much easier to manage. Horrible stuff really.

Have a flickr set here from the trip.

Thats rough stuff but with a bit of Irish humour in it. Hard to imagine though.

The entrance to the showers and gas chambers looked simular , so people didn't know which group they were selected for.

So I would believe such a sign may have been there, so that it didn't look like a gas chamber.

Even if just on a practical aspect, someone needed to go in, police up the bodies, and clean the place out.

    yes.

Was in Dachau last summer and that sign was there.

More chilling was the fact that over the entrance were the words Arbeit macht frei, meaning work will set you free. Sadistic fcukers.
