A poor Selezyia Sparx in that video got banned from the States not so soon after that show for FIVE YEARS after trying and failing to attempt to cross the Canada-US border. Ruining her WWE chances. Total bummer.

Reminded me of the Joey Ryan/Candice LaRae vs Young Bucks match. Great match and loved how they made Joey tombstone Candice

You probably probably know this but that match were Candice bleed buckets and the match where Veda Scott got cut up by the Cage in the documentary above happened the same weekend.

    This article covers it (NSFW)

But besides that Intergender Wresting is probably the biggest online Wrestling debate of the year. There's a lot of issues and concerns. Lots of cat and dog fights online about cat and dogs fights. :p

Didn't know about that, cheers. Only watched that tag match I mentioned recently for the first time.

Frankly, if both parties want to do it and it's not done in a sleazy way (though Candice giving the Bucks a double suplex using their crotches was entertaining) then I've no problem with it. The only thing I'd have trouble with is some of them beating the guys. Like that Alexia Nicole, for example. But if we're made to believe it for Rey Mysterio, then why not?!

In the mid-late 90's I saw a documentary on women's wrestling in Japan either on Eurosport or TnaG/TG4. I think it focused on the women training. I vaguely recall a scene with a match where a wrestler had bladed. Anyone know the name of it?

Realism in Wrestling and especially Indie Wrestling in 2014 is a strange duck. Wrestling is entertainment now. But there's so many other considerations and thoughts beyond realism. In practice it seems to rob work from female Wrestlers as promoters only need to book one woman on the card instead of two. It also may undercut Women's Wrestling from being taking seriously. As Intergender Wrestling might be turning Women into "Chyna" style side show tractions. Undoing the work that has been done the past 10 years on the Indie scene of establishing that women are actual Wrestlers and not "Divas".

The BBC documentary GAEA Girls. It is known for the scene where a trainer shoot dropkicks a trainee in the face and completely bloodies her face. Super shocking scene even for a Wrestling let alone general audiences.

On a similar note, did any of you ever see Lipstick And Dynamite, Piss And Vinegar? When I was using the U.S Netflix there last year or the year before, it was available to watch on it. It's a good documentary about women's wrestling in the era of the "golden girls", I guess you'd call them. It features lots of hard-as-nails characters, the most recogniseable of whom are obviously Mae Young and The Fabulous Moolah.

Re: GAEA documentary, "you got what you deserve.... you're lucky it was me, anyone else would have killed you". F'sake.

    - It was revealed during Wednesday night’s episode of WWE Main Event that Sheamus (in storyline, of course) suffered a stinger in his arm after being attacked by the Authority and put through a table on Raw. Michael Cole said that Sheamus had signs of bone spurring, narrowing of the spinal canal and increased pressure to his neck.

An update on his condition was promised by Raw.

Cover for him doing promotion for the video game?

I'm impressed with the medical specifics given by cole, for a storyline injury. A bit odd.

That's a description of spinal stenosis.

    Why Edge retired.

Well somebody has to make room for Randy Orton don't they ?

Absolutely. Very odd to mention stenosis as it's more an effect of long-term wear, rather than the usually transient stinger. He was replaced on Team Cena already so perhaps he'll be selling the fake injury for a little longer. Probably would've been better to leave his spot for a mystery teammate - unless it wasn't going to be Orton and the crowd boo it.

    Depressing note in the Observer:

The Wrestling version of someone passing away at Christmas time I guess. Ric broke down crying over Reid on a live WWE Network special last year.

Was that the one where he was absolutely hammered?

That was the Summerslam panel last year.

This is the one where he breaks down crying http://network.wwe.com/video/v31912027

I don't find it depressing, I'm happy to see an Irish court take a heavy stance of extremely creepy, disgusting behaviour. Glad people like that are off the streets.

Let's not go full After Hours and jump on not fully elaborated points to make thank whoring points with respect Leggo. This is a sad situation. Maybe Mark could have eventually gotten to the point where he was going to act out his fantasies but we don't completely know. He DOES come across as a real sicko don't get me wrong but it is still sad that he chose to channel his sense of loneliness in this way - if you believe that excuse. It is a complex situation that's probably best expressed during an in person conversation rather than a message board. Personally don't really bat an eye on the "lock him up and throwaway the key mentality" when it comes to sexual crimes especially when the welfare of children are involved. If I have to pay a little bit more in my taxes I don't really mind.

No, I know what Jay meant and was by no means thanks whoring or even disagreeing. I've had people I've known get done for weird crimes not a million miles from this before so get the complex, 'You think you know someone' emotions involved when it happens. I've just come to a place where crimes like this are a line that you cross that you can't come back from with me, no matter if the person is someone I've met before and thought was sound enough or whose show I enjoyed. I wasn't even going to post on the matter, but said **** it once the verdict came in.

The sick discussions are one thing, but the escalation to owning child porn, then the further escalation to pleading not guilty then later changing that plea (which suggests that his attempts at remorse are more based on feeling sorry about being caught rather than about the crime itself - an important distinction) proves that this guy was unequivocally scum. He may have been convincing at pretending otherwise but that's been outed now. I feel sorry for people who knew him well who are obviously dealing with the shock of this, but that's about the extent of my sympathies.

Again, this isn't me being populist or thanks whoring. It's how I honestly feel reading this, whether that view upsets people or not. Whatever else you've done in your life ceases to matter to me once you cross the line that he has.

That's what it comes down to, in my view. As long as the law has been followed, then we are all entitled to our own opinions afterwards.

With respect did you not call Savage a nonce? I think Leggo was really fair in his post and didn't see any thanks whoring.

I did more or less in a response to someone on Twitter from England who was aware of the World Wrestling Revolution radio show back in the day.

Just think Leggo jumped on Jay's post a little bit unfairly and he didn't even ask Jay to expand on it. Leggo acknowledged it and it is in the past to me. I COMPLETELY understand what Leggo said and feels though. It is an extremely emotive issue. When leggo posts it is something of a real import and I respect it this is no different.

All good, I got what rovert meant and how it could've been taken and was glad to qualify what I meant. I'd hate, too, if Jay felt I jumped on his point when that wasn't the case (especially in a case like this).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

The fact is someone did something wrong and they have been passed through the criminal justice system accordingly. It doesn't matter what we all say now because what's done is done.
