It seems that any threads on ES which are critical of the Gardai are closed down very quickly.

It is not always because there is an issue with the content.

    Look at the following

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055706491

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055698776&page=4

By saying something along the lines that all questions must have been answered by now it consigns the post to grow old very quickly. Just like a negative bump. And what happens if someone reading it has a valid point to make?

It seems to be stifling debate.

They are both quite long discussions, not exactly closed quickly.

I haven't read the relevant threads fully, but I would wager it was an asked and answered situation.

The Mod PSNI gave his reasons for closing them, they are fair enough unless you want to repeat the same arguements over and over.

If the point of the thread had been fulfilled then what would be the purpose of closing it? Should it not die out itself? All closing it does is prevents ongoing contribution.

Others have picked up upon this also

If each thread was a case of a single question asked and then answered then no threads would reach three posts, never mind three pages.

I've posted on that forum. In wasn't set up as the "Have a go at the gardai" forum. There's no onus on them to allow any thread criticising their practises. After alot of discussion I think it was decided that such threads would be allowed on a short leash. PSNI decided that both threads were going to a place that's not allowed on the forum so he closed them. It's all perfectly above board. If you'd like a free, open and equal discussion of the Gardai, try humanties. Contray to popular opinion, just because something is allowed on one forum doesn't mean its allowed on all others.
