Why go by what IOE is doing? Pick any 3 out of the following

    Pride and Prejudice
    Kepler
    Arthur and George
    Waiting for Godot
    Circle of Friends
    The Last September
    Wuthering Heights
    In Patagonia
    Girl with a Pearl Earring
    Casablanca (Film)
    Billy Elliot (Film)
    Hard Times
    Dancing at Lughnasa
    North of Ithaka
    Pompeii
    A Doll’s House
    Sive
    Richard III (Film)
    The Silent People
    Fly Away Peter
    The Lonesome West
    Lamb
    Lies of Silence
    A Whistle in the Dark
    Chimamanda Purple Hibiscus
    Inside I’m Dancing (Film)
    Panther in the Basement
    Bel Canto
    Il Postino (Film)
    The Bookseller of Kabul
    King Lear
    The Tempest
    Oedipus the King
    The Grapes of Wrath
The Playboy of the Western World
    The Road to Memphis
    The Blackwater Lightship
    The Story of Lucy Gault
    The Truman Show (Film)

NOTE: The films have to be by certain directors and of course you can't pick a text which you are doing already for your single text.

EDIT: Take no notice of the highlighted texts. That was just for my use and it wouldn't unhighlight

If you don't want to do King Lear in detail with all the quote learning you could do Lear as part of the comparative and pick one of the following (apart from King Lear) as your single text. You obviously have to pick one with 'H' if you are doing honours

    2010 SINGLE TEXT LIST

    Wuthering Heights (H/O)
    Dancing at Lughnasa (H/O)
    Sive (O)
    Lamb (O)
    Lies of Silence (O)
    Panther in the Basement (O)
    King Lear (H/O)
    The Grapes of Wrath (H/O)
    The Blackwater Lightship (H/O)

I was thinking of that but Higher Level students have to do Shakespeare (says in syllabus)

Yep. Higher level students have to do Shakespeare but you can do it as either the single text or as part of the comparative.

The letter beside it refers to the level if you're doing it as the single text only. You can't do Lies of Silence as a single text, but for the comparative it's grand.

I don't really get why you are so obsessed with the texts done in the IOE, it's just a selection of texts that work well together for them. The same combination could be done up and down the country.

Seeing as you have a grinds teacher who knows the texts they do, ask her and get them read over the mid-term. Isn't that what you're paying him/her for?

Did anyone actually tell her the texts?

In my school Dancing at Lughnasa is done by the higher level students and ordinary students as well. Also Panther in the Basement is for HIGHER LEVEL

Yep you're right Panther in the Basement is higher level (and ordinary) for the comparative section as in my first posting above.

Panther in the Basement is ordinary level only for the single text as in my third posting above
