I heard this on the way home Saturday morning the Eastern Freeway in Melbourne was sealed off outbound.

I wondered what on earth would make vicpol close of the whole outbound freeway.

A MOTORIST has been killed after his vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle travelling in the wrong direction along the Eastern Highway at Kew in Melbourne's east.

A woman in her 40s – the driver of the car going the wrong way – is in a critical condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Police said the collision happened just after 2am (AEST) today and they are yet to identify the motorist who died.

How on earth can you at any time make this mistake.

For anyone who does not know the Eastern Freeway is a Major 5-6 Lane freeway (each side) leading from Melbourne CBD to the Eastern Suburbs at 2 am on a friday night it would be fairly busy.
