Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

dont fancy our chances in the play off!
    no real system at all!
montenegro looked the better team, they weathered the "onslaught" and played some nice football and really should have been one up at half time!
Can we really say if we do get to the world cup that we will be staying in south africa longer than the group games, playing like that!

Fookin hell lads, that was the most exciting 90 minutes of football I've ever seen  Non-stop action, high-tempo stuff, and a hat-trick to boot

    Ireland match any good?

Well Dave. I'd be lying if I said it was good but...... it was fantastic.

Ah good old Bill reading out Dunphy's old Trap quotes.

Bill bringing up old quotes :D Souness was spot on

Well that was tough to watch. Ended up turning the sound down and doing some work. What would I give for a Steven Reid / Any Reid midfield combo in the playoffs. Yeah and pigs will fly I suppose.

Souness is generally right about most things. He's an honest analyst.
    WTF is Dunphy talking about?

Yes yes you hate the Irish soccer team. We knew that ten years ago.

"Let me finish. LET ME FINISH WILL YA?"

    Quality.

He's off again with the great sporting people of this country speech. Boring at this stage, it really is.

Lol yeah Eamonn going off on one now. God that was one hell of a dull match.:(

Here's hoping that Hunt asks the question that we all want to hear:

"What's that prick Dunphy saying tonight?"

    wake up!
maybe you enjoy spending 70 euro to watch such games!
I dont and we are like flippin bolton who can only score from set pieces.
There are better players that can play for Ireland but trap decides not to play them.
not dunphy btw just dont like what i see!

What worries me about a performance like that is if we are drawn to play the home game first and our opponents decide to shut up shop and play for the draw, I would doubt our ability to break them down. Little to no creativity or imagination from the middle of the park.

I'd love to know how many of our goals during this campaign have come from set pieces.

Wonder if the FAI will have Hunt and Dunphy in a boxing ring.

    Eamo needs some new material.

    Hunty is a class act.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,270 ✭✭✭✭briany

    Uh-oh I wanna see Dunphy discuss Hunt's comments.:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Ah here, RTE is trying to set it up Jerry Springer style alternating between Hunt & Dunphy.

    Italian bastards and their comebacks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,521 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

It's at times like this where i look to worse performances to help me forget Ireland.

Here's Switzerland v Luxembourg earlier in the qualifiers. And to think Switzerland topped their group...

EDIT: Have to go to Youtube to look at it. Annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,270 ✭✭✭✭briany

I like this new-fangled honesty thing that is coming from the Irish camp. First Trapattoni on Reid and now Hunt on Dunphy. I don't think that performance is going to inspire fear around Europe of the Irish team but none of the big teams seemed all that bothered in other matches. Shocking result for Russia, a draw with Azerbaijan of all teams and Cyprus almost getting an historic draw with Italy and there's more too but I'm not gonna type them because obviously you all can get them.;)

Eamon has every right to highlight the injustice that is Reids exclusion. Its wrong plain and simple.
Why should he give it a rest?

I wish they'd stop talking about the match and start talking about Andy Reid :D

Calm down boyo :D No one is forcing you to pay €70. (We're not Brazil and never will be, you know this.)

BTW I do agree with you, there are better players that can play for Ireland, some don't want to play (S.Ireland), some don't get the chance (A.Reid) and some are just coming back from injury (S.Reid).

Anyway this game was always going to be muck but let's have a little bit of positivity for the play-offs, who knows, maybe we'll sneak our way to SA and sure isn't that all the little nation of Ireland can hope for :D:rolleyes:

Chillax that was a joke. I agree with Dunphy on Reid but he's repeating hiimself now at this stage.

Ah now in fairness whilst dunphy can be a clown at the best of times, he said nothing about hunt.
Perhaps if you had actually heard him after Italy game you could agree. he is there to offer his opinion and he didnt personally attack anyone. Dunphy can be a media whore but Hunt is alot worse. Dunphy is right about Andy Reid. he is the creative influence we need and it is totally ridiculous he is left out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

    LOL

    The audio is on again.

Hear Bill saying 'this bloody thing' :D

It was worldwide last time out(post Italy game) and it says worldwide in the description tonight but underneath it says ROI Only. I think they ballsed it up.

Twas over too soon anyway, you didn't miss much.

RTE haven't quite got the hang of of geo-blocking yet ;) Sometimes you can get the match stream outside Ireland (not tonight though!), I managed to watch the Bulgaria match streaming on RTE from SE Asia in June.
