and what wrong with that? thats a great thing.
I think you are missing the point, PS wages should ALWAYS ALWAYS be lower than private sector work, for the simple fact of job security + pension is worth more in the long run. Public Sector = Socialism( with a nice big cushion to ensure job security etc. ), Private Sector = Capitalism( you can lose your job at the drop of a hat, its a bigger risk, a bigger gamble so it should pay more ).

So, I take it you are happy to create an underclass of employee in the event that the economy rebounds in the next couple of years?
A return to the times when a PS job, though secure and pensionable, was the lowest paid job and therefore looked down upon?
Is this what you're looking for, the chance to look down on somebody and say to yourself: "I'm so glad it's them and not me?"
What's next? Do you want all Public Sector workers are to be branded and must wear identity badges? They must place themselves at the back of all buses and trains and give up their seat when a Private Sector worker can't find one? Where does the witch-hunting end?
At the end of the day though at least im in the private sector and can skip country handy and loads like me, lmao, public sector have no option but to stay haha

Fairly typical, can't stand the heat? run away then... wait, didn't you claim your other half is in Public Sector? Are you going to leave them behind? Just wondering...

Anger is an expected reaction to a situation you can't resolve, however, blaming in a scatter-gun effect is not going to get you anywhere either. I agree that Public pay is too high... in certain areas and especially at certain grades.

I used to work in the Public Sector, and I can guarantee you that I worked an average 45hrs per week without the benefit of overtime payments. It's not all rosy in the Public Sector in all sectors, regardless of common perception.

I work for myself now and I am making the same amount of money as I did before. I have not seen any difference between the two sectors, but that's only me.

Don't be silly, new economy private sector workers won't take buses. Once they've moved the work of their underlings to Bangalore & fired their former colleagues, they buy a Porsche SUV with their bonuses. :p

As has been said in the media that the public service wage bill needs to be cut I am wondering is a selective furlough the answer to the required savings. This is the solution that is being tried in the USA. If used with trimming the fat in public organisations the required savings can be met.

Just putting it out there .... don't shoot the messanger.
I guess somebody was paying attention:-)

If this thread is simply an ass-kicking contest, I'll just remind everybody that the mods have the best ass-kicking equipment, and will quite happily kick everybody's asses into touch for a week if required.

Put down the handbags and nobody gets banned.
