    Hi all.

I'm sure many of you have at least heard of the Gaelcon Charity Auction

    Gaelcon Charity Auction

Charity Auction is held on the Sunday Evening which is the 25th of this month.

I will be donating my entire retro Nintendo collection. I will have no control over the lots but imagine they will divide them up by console and put them up for auction as such.

Here is a Spreadsheet with the information

    List of Items

    And some pics...

So pretty much 20 years of a colletion which will be going under the hammer for Charity. I've tested everything over the last few weeks and any issues are on the google doc but there isnt many at all. All Games unless said otherwise are cart only.

I dont mind saying there are some classics in this bunch and hoping to raise some cash out of it for charity

Posting it here incase there is anyone interested in them.If you know anyone interested they give them the info please.

Come to the charity auction at Gaelcon and bring your wallet!
And remember.. its for the kids!

It's the Gaelcon Charity Auction hopefully they will go for a lot more then that
    IGA Charity Auction
What started as a drunken “no, I want it more” between two slightly intoxicated gamers in a pub many (many) moons ago has become, for me at least, one of the highlights of the gaming year. The IGA Charity Auction at Gaelcon has grown and grown since that first fateful argument over a shiny object, and has become something that has a real impact on the lives of many people.
Each year, we wait with bated breath to see what amazing and rare objects that our incredible donors will arrive with. We spend hours deliberating over how to show each item to it's best potential, and then cross our fingers that those wonderful gamers who come with open minds (and wallets!) to the auction will be as generous and receptive as they always are.

    Why do we do it?

The simplest answers are quite often the best.
We do it “for the kids”.

Sure, we use it as a witty catchphrase to encourage large numbers of gamers to part with large amounts of cash, but that doesn't make it any less true. The money that is raised through the IGA Charity Auction has a very real impact on the lives of kids all over Ireland.

    Who we donate to?
Over the past 15 years the IGA Charity Auction has raised and donated over €250,000 to many worthy children's charities. Some of the recipients of our bidders hard-earned cash include:
    Barretstown Gang Camp
Barretstown was founded in 1994 by Paul Newman as a recreational and therapeutic camping experience for children facing life-threatening illness. It offers support to parents and families, and gives ill children a chance to be children again.

    Debra Ireland
DEBRA Ireland (the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) was set up by families of children with EB in 1988 to offer help, support and information to Butterfly children and their families.

    The Cari Foundation
Children At Risk in Ireland was founded in 1989 and offers therapy and counselling to children, families and adults who have suffered childhood sexual abuse.

    Jack and Jill Children's Foundation
The Foundation provides early intervention home respite to families with children up to the age of 4, with severe neuro developmental delay and palliative conditions requiring extensive medical and nursing care at home.

Temple Street Children's University Hospital & Crumlin Children's Hospital
Both these hospitals provide an acute paediatric service and specialist paediatric healthcare for children from all over Ireland. As the services they provide become more and more specialised, the hospital relies more and more on donations to fund research and further the care that they can provide for all their patients.

In the current economic climate, it is more important than ever that donations keep coming for all of these charities.

If you are involved with (or know) any children's charities in Ireland which you feel could benefit from the IGA charity fund, please contact us at charity@gaelcon.com

Yep. I hope so too hence the bringing it to the attention of the fine people on the Games/Retro forum in the hopes it might they might find a loving home and make a wad of cash for charity.

Also i think Gaelcon gives people a little time to pay off the Auction so you dont have to have it all up front...

Secret of Mana boxed with the Map. Im bloody tempted to tell them to auction that seperately...(Or keep it myself.. No i cant.. it all must go......)

I threw out a mint condition Perfect Dark box yesterday :/ If only I saw this earlier I could have given it to you to add to the game. Would have liked someone to get some use out of it.

So I intend to buy some of these!

Q: Do they all have no boxes or mauals unless specifyed in spreadsheet? Have you the box for any of the consoles?

Could you suggest that they sell the games separately to the consoles?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,909 ✭✭✭Agent J

Its going to be outside of my control*

All games are cart only unless speficed.
Probably should have said all consoles are as is as well. No boxes( I did have 2 of them safely stored away in attic until my mother threw them out about 6+ years ago :( .....)

*However if there is an impressive bid for something pre auction i'll put it to the powers that be but absoultely no promises ;)

Speaking of bids how much do you expect these to go for?

Any chance you guys could do a pick-up from Belgard in Tallaght? I've got a pretty epic Dreamcast collection consoles, games, etc that's been gathering dust in my parent's attic for a while and realistically won't be used (by me) for sometime. It'd be nice to see it do some good and go to a good home.

Doh, read it as being this Sunday - just emailed them too. Nevermind, I'll give it the SSF if they fancy it.

Thanks for the offer but the Auction is over.

I am unsure as to what each console got exactly but they all went for over 100 euro each which is all i wanted at least.

I was hiding out back when they went up :)

Mods can probably desticky this now. Thanks for your help!
