    Hi there,

I am getting a puppy soon.
When puppy is old enough would there be anyone in Rathfarnham / Nutgrove area with dogs that would consider having the puppy over for play dates?
This could be alternated between houses.
    Does anyone do this?

I ask as I only know one other friend with a dog and worry the puppy won't get socialised correctly.

Sure, she'll be taken to the park and meet whoever's out walking their own dog at the time - but would be great to have her be part of a pack / have doggy friends.

Also, for weekends are there any recommended places / dog parks to take her too?

Just doing a bit of research before the pup arrives.
    Any help appreciated.

Not bad for when you're not around to keep your dog company.

They've opened a dog park in marley park now, it's great to socialise your dogs, was there for the first time last weekend. All shapes and sizes and breeds of dogs there.

Hi Crazyivan 1979 (love the username - remember the Red October film ref to a crazyivan?)

I saw mention of this park. Where abouts is it in Marley? Near which car park? Near the house?
Might go and have a look - dog or no dog ;-)
    Cheers

I'd love to do this, but my guy is 5 1/2 months old now,0 but if anyone with similar is interested?

Marlay park is great. Was there for the first time last weekend as well. If you go in the either grange road entrance go left and its before the playground. It great.

Crazyivan - Did you have the rottie / lab cross, i think, it got knocked down before you rescued it?

Howitzer - yep, red october is where I got it from! The way I got there was to go along grange rd, then go left by the filter light, up that rd which forks left and right with that big white pub in the middle, go right, half a mile turn right into the car park. if you park there, go out through the south end of the car park, 5 mins walk through the woods and you'll come to it.

Funky Jebus - Yep that was me with Ben. which one(s) was yours?

Gonna head up again this wkend, maybe sat afternoon again.

I was there with my girlfriend and we were talking for a while. I had the wheaten terrier, bubs, (pic attached) who got into a spot of bother with that feisty labradoodle!

Was also thinking of heading up at some point this weekend, and probably every weekend, the little guy loved it so much. Might see and ben up there again sometime soon.

The labradoodle has attacked my dog every time he has seen him since he was a puppy.

No blood shed yet but probably might be a matter of time, I think he needs to be neutered to stop him being so aggressive.

I love the park and have brought my dog there since he was three months old. He loves it!

I think we were there at the same time as you, with the two terrier crosses (white/tan, black/tan) Lucy and Jack.

    Will certainly be back again!
