Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

PC startup issue

Oliver's Computer Issue: It runs fine, when it starts, and restarts fine too, but if left shut off for any period of time refuses to start properly. I push the power button, the drives spin up and I can hear them being read, but there's no output from either the graphics card or the onboard graphics, limiting the problem to the motherboard.

If I leave it sit for a while to get up to temperature, then press the restart button, it starts up and boots properly, or at least, it did until I decided yesterday to clean out as much dust as I could, which included taking out all the components, dusting them, hoovering the case and through the PSU, then re-assembling. It then refused to boot regardless of what I did. I left it spinning overnight, then tried the reset button again, and nothing.

I thought that this might have meant the dust was helping in some way, that perhaps the increased temperature might have been causing a part to expand slightly, making a weak connection. So, I blocked my chassis fan, and sure enough, here I am, on my PC again.

The first difference I notice between when I start it up to nothing and when it actually works is the LEDs on my keyboard showing that it's being checked for the boot, so I'm suspecting the fault might lie within the ps/2 controller on the mobo.

I've tried starting with no peripherals connected, I've tried wiping the CMOS and I've tried kicking it. Anyone have any advice?

Change the BIOS setting to not check for keyboard and mouse at startup and report back.
