    c'mon young David son.

so it'll be, i reckon, and hope...

    ---Masch---Lucas---
    Dirk----Benny---Riera
    N'Gog

or, if Dirk's injured, Benny wide and the Vorinator in behind.

Dirk was off in Australia and Masch and Lucas only fly in today from south america AFAIK, could be a tired team. Personally could see Sunderland getting something out of it.

Would love to see Agger get a game.

Oh dear. And against an in-form Sunderland

The lads better be putting in performances as if their lives depended on it to get a decent result tomorrow. A win is crucial IMO.

On Aquilani - here he is training, at last!

could be a weak team as Rafa normally doesn't play players who play midweek in south america.
can see Sunderland getting a point at least, massive boost for them to hear this.

At least we know Kuyt is ok. I reckon him up front with Riera and Babel supporting. Good chance for Ryan.

Maybe a slight change of formation could work well.

    (not including the back 5)

    Babel---Masch--Riera
    Benny----
    N'Gog---Kuyt---

    In a more attacking 4-4-2.

It would certainly be a quick and attacking starting line up.

Both players involved with dead rubbers, Kuyt sent to Oz, Lucas/Masch only back today. GODDAM INTERNATIONALS!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

    ----Mascherano--Lucas
    Kuyt
    Yossi
    Albert
    Voronin

would like to see Ngog start up top, but not sure if that'll happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

would you believe, i forgot about ryan. i'll give myself a slap accordingly.

stick him out wide, with kuyt up front. n'gog can be our supersub.

that is not that average a front 6. it's definitely worse without our star men, but it should still have enough to scrape past sunderland if it plays to it's potential.

    a win is vital.

i'm going to be cacking myself tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

LOL i forgot about Babel as well :o

    i agree with Slick.

    Mascherano---Lucas
    Babel
    Yossi
    Albert
    Kuyt

    or

    Yossi---Mascherano--Lucas---Riera
    Kuyt----Babel

a win tomorrow would be a huge result.

These are the kind of games where you will really need to show that you are capable of winning titles. 2 of the worlds best out. Utd missing both strikers too but at least we're at home. Going to be an interesting weekend. At least ya dont have any african players and so wont be missing them in Jan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,282 ✭✭✭slingerz

benitez has said that kuyt will play up front front so babel, benni, riera behind with Masch and Lucas.

They might actually play better without the 2 boys tomorrow

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,276 ✭✭✭IRISHSPORTSGUY

Excellent news Torres & Gerrard are out. :D Hoping Kenwyne will start tomorrow, had a long flight back from international duty.

    Gordon

    Bardsley - Turner - Ferdinand - Mensah

    Malbranque - Cattermole - Cana - Reid

    Jones - Bent

We look a totally different propsition this season. Cana in particular is a colossus, hard to believe Marseille let their captain and star player go for only 5 bloody million! Cattermole and Cana make us very rough in the centre, Cana is also a very good footabller. Reid has been a revelation this season because of the weight loss.

    2-0 to us. ;)

Thread for discussing Sunderland V Liverpool, 17th October.

I predict a Liverpool win, but I can see Sunderland scoring.

Maybe something along the lines of a 2-3.

    Liverpool to win, convincingly.

Nobody will be talking about the abscence of Gerrard and Torres in a negative light on Match of the Day.

    sunderland are in form.

we're missing our best players at the same time, away from home.

bloody hell, utd fans are on here saying they're worried too seen as Rooney and Owen are out for them, as well as maybe Berbatov after a long trip back.

i'm still reasonably confident in the rest of our squad; i don't think anyone ever fell over themseves saying how unbelievable it was. but i'm confident.

you miss your best players, always. and it makes you worry somewhat when they're missing, always.

Worrying somewhat is not 'cacking yourself'!!!
United still have players on the pitch that can turn a game around, like Giggs to name one, who do we have?? Maybe Yossi, who else?

This is the kind of match, with their 2 star players missing that true champions would go and win anyway. Massive, massive game for Liverpool.

i'm worried either way because it's a massive game, away to a team in form. that coupled with our two best players being missing makes me very very worried.

it doesn't mean i'm not confident in our squad, it just means it would be a easier if all our best players were available to us.

    4/1 Sunderland get on.

    Reina
    Johnson--Carra-Agger--Insua
    Masch-Aurelio
    Kuyt
    Yossi
    Reira
    NGog

or maybe 4-4-2 with Yossi right and Kuyt + N'Gog up front

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

    Babel
    Benny
    Riera
    Kuyt
    Masch--Lucas

    Aurelio----Skrtel--Carra--Johnson

    Reina

I'd play a 4-4-2 with Benny off Babel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,276 ✭✭✭IRISHSPORTSGUY

The main weakness in Sunderland is Anton Ferdinand. Has had a poor start to the season, but was instrumental at Old Trafford though and the og was unlucky.

Hopefully we can take advantage of Liverpool at set pieces, since Reid shed loads of weight he hasn't been as tired taking them (he was woeful at them last season) and they've been very good. Helps that Turner, Cana and Jones are built like brick sh!thouses mind. ;)

I'd go with that team but swap Kuyt's and Babels position.

Great oppurtunity for Babel to shine the next few games.

well, yes, it does mean something.

it shows what normally happens between the two teams.

it's in no way definitive, obviously, but it gives an indication.

by your reasoning, in a game against morecambe we don't know what to expect because the past means nothing. ;)

Get a grip Fink. Using this as an opportunity to prove yourself right. The truth is we'd prob have struggled tomorrow with the 2 boys.

Your so bloody critical of the squad but I don't know how different it could be based on what we've been able to spend. We all know the way you feel but really you add nothing because all you do is criticise

Less tired in the run up. He always looked exhausted after an hour too.

    Set pieces have improved dramatically.

This would possibly be my favoured starting XI for Liverpool tomorrow, as I posted in the Liverpool thread.

    (not including the back 5)

    Babel---Masch--Riera
    Benny----

    In a more attacking 4-4-2.

I would be openly willing to change my opinion on the man if he can pull a top performance out of the bag tomorrow.

I fully expect him to start, and I want to see him going for it from the start.

We did quite well when Gerrard and Torres were out last year. We have quality all over the pitch and on the bench.

    The past means nothing!!!

    Wow.
It's normally Utd fans who say that to Liverpool fans.

Of course the bloody past means something!
Or does their form mean nothing, cause that's in the past too.

We know how to beat them.
We know how to shut them out.
We know how to score against them.
We know how to score against them and beat them at the Stadium Of Light.
Last year Ngog scored the second.
Last season we beat the 2-0 with no Torres.
The season before we beat them 2-0 with no Gerrard.

If you honestly think that none of that has any bearing on tomorrows match, I don't know what to say.
