I think you are doing Sunderland a disservice by calling them an average team.

They are probably the 9th best team in the league behind Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs, Everton and Villa.

Of course it will be argued that 9th place automatically means average but you can still be a good side and be behind those teams.

no id say they're average. they have been up to last season and its too early to say how they'll do this season. but my point is that liverpool should be capable of beating them with or without torres and gerrard.

I agree that Liverpool should still have enough to beat them.

The Reds XI in full is:

oh f*ck i don't like that team at all

    Reina

    Carra
    Skrtel
    Agger

    Johnson
    Aurelio

    Lucas
    Spearing

    Babel
    Benayoun---

    Kuyt

He's going 3 at the back, Carra, Agger and Skrtel. With Lucas and Spearing in central mid, Aurelio and Johnson as wing backs and Benayoun and Babel supporting Kuyt.

what's the formation so? must be something like...

    Reina
    Johnson---Carra
    Skrtel
    Agger
    Spearing----Lucas
    Babel
    Benny
    Aurelio
    Kuyt

    interesting one.

leaving Albert on the bench does not sit well with me.

Agger getting a start certainly does though.

Aurelio could be playing in centre midfield like he did against Leeds?

    Reina

    Carra
    Skrtel
    Agger

    Johnson
    Aurelio

    Lucas
    Spearing

    Benayoun

    Babel
    Kuyt

    Agger in midfield?
    Aurelio in midfield?

There are about a dozen possibilities. I don't like the midfield as it is at all

    Reina
    Johnson Carra Skrtel Agger
    Spearing Lucas

Utd missing both strikers too but at least we're at home. Going to be an interesting weekend.

Nah, just Rooney missing. Berb is about, as is Owen and some of the younger lads. :)

Should be an interesting game for both teams - more so for Liverpool without your two main goal scorers and poor(sh) performance recently. United should be okay without Rooney, but its not an easy call considering our performance.

Id imagine 2-1 to Pool tho..

I like it, glad to have Agger back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

not really Mike, Johnson & Aurelio will be more like wingers in the formation.

least people can't moan about us being too predictable ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Not a fan of the team. Dont see where the goals are going to come from and Lucas and Spearing the middle really doesnt inspire confidence. Strange move to leave out Riera seeing as Gerrard AND Torres are injured. Id love to be proven wrong though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

thought Riera was gonna start myself, although if they line up like i predicted, there ain't really a place for him in the side.

Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, Turner, Ferdinand, McCartney, Malbranque, Cana, Cattermole, Reid, Bent, Jones.

Subs: Fulop, Nosworthy, Zenden, Campbell, Henderson, Da Silva, Healy.

nah Albert can stay on the bench for a little while....needs to get some form going imo

he needs to get on the pitch to get that form going though.

but i agree, he's not been great this season so far.

Can't believe they're not showing this. Boltons game are usually ****e, at least we and Sunderland have been throwing up some entertainment this season ;)

Very suprised at that formation. If im not mistaken I think we played that formation at portsmouth last season where we struggled to beat them 3-2.

Masch on the bench because of being away on international duty:confused:

Big day for spearing to show his worth. Lucas and Spearing though centre midfield will be a big test.

I thought we'd see something like

    ---Benayoun----Lucas---Mascherano----Babel
    Kuyt
    Ngog

which is good enough to score against Sunderland
