Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Nice finish from Valencia. He didn't look to happy about it though.

Anyone know why JOSh isn't playing? Neville isn't sharp enough.

How do you think a player gets game sharpness?

    you guessed it.

Great move, nice if simple finish.

Good finish from inside the box, assist from a deft flick from Neville, Good hold up play from Owen too in the attack with around 7 Bolton players near him.

there is a stream. http://www.veetle.com/viewChannel.php?cid=48e7c37acf0fe will be back on after half time.

He got the assist for Valencia's goal.
That was a convenient counter-point to my argument. He started the match pretty poorly, lots of loose touches etc.
But does anyone know why JOSh isn't playing?
He's started the season better than most.

2-0 at half time. That will do nicely. Reasonable performance so far imo. Some nice link up play and use of ball. Maybe we could play a bit more keep ball if i was being picky.

He's most likely giving him a rest after the international matches.

Berbs has been alright so far IMO, some nice hold up play by him i think.

Prop because he was involved in the last two Ireland games while Neville done nothing. Three matches this week, JOS will play the next two which will be much harder.

One of our best players so far imo. Our attack revolves around his hold up play alot of the time.

    That's more like Antonio

Oh my god Owen, shocking miss, but what a touch from Berbatov, utterly sublime.

    Beautiful from Berba.

Owen V Bolton, if he survives this uninjured it will be a minor miracle.

    That was sexy.

Starting to pick up pace now. Some great stuff from United.

Every time I watch Bolton play Davis always seems to be bleeding or injuried or something. He really puts his body on the line every time, refreshing to see.

Anyone think United can play this well with Nani in the team, losing possesion 70 % of the time?
    He's like a disease.

Is this meant to be satirical? Nani isn't even playing.
That's my point. United cannot possibly play well with Nani in the team because he constantly gives the ball away, yet some people still try to defend him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    Awful from Neville, awful defending.

Totally caught out of position, Ferdinand had to cover it, then an utterly ****e clearance from Neville, just awful. Needs to ****ing step it up

could easily have been 5-1 too. Thats football.

I think Welbeck on for Owen would be a good move, try and finish this game off. Also Scholes on could be good to sure up possession. Wouldn't take Anderson off though because we need him for defensive duties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Good sub brining O'Shea on Fergie, another one to win the aerial battle. Welbeck should have a good chance to get at least one goal here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Haven't been impressed with Owen at all here. His pace has been gone for awhile now, but his sharpness infront of goal seems to be deserting him now.

    Giggs has been MOTM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 749 ✭✭✭niallk

Giggs and Berbatov were outstanding. Valencia looked comfortable for the first time. Owen needs more match time but got into some great positions and linked with Berba well. Carrick did nothing, his usual coasting performance. Some shockers at the back, Rio and Neville were suspect. Good to see VDS back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    Berbatov was fantastic.

Owen needs to step it up if he wants to make it at United. At this moment in time, I think I'd prefer Welbeck starting to him. Needs to get much much sharper, but his movement is still there so thats a positive.

Giggs was unreal again, really evolving his game in a totally different way.

Carrick and Anderson had average games but did enough, missed Fletcher in there.

Neville needs to cop the **** on, thought Ferdinand did well though

Great to see us top of the league again. Can't believe it was so tight in the end after all chances we had thought Valencia looked good for the first time.

VDS had a ropey moment aswell there. Surprised no one has commented yet. If it was Ben Foster doing it, he would be slated. Sure Foster has had a few mistakes in the games he played, but VDS has his moments as well. Perfectly good goal for Bolton chalked off.
Pleased with the result which puts United back on top of the League.
Giggs & Evra were terrific today. Pity Giggs wasn't 25 and not 35!!
Berba had great link up play with Owen, hopefully Owen thats get *little* bit sharper and get score a few more goals. Probably should have had a hattrick today with the positions he got into.

I was watching Liverpool's game versus Sunderland and the balloon. How did United perform? I heard they were on the back foot for large spells?

Also how did Carrick get on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,418 ✭✭✭curry-muff

Wouldnt say on the back foot but Bolton had a few dangerous attacks, united played fairly well Berb set up Owen for two chances that the old Owen would have scored and Valencia took the first steps to justifying his pricetag, the result pretty much sums it up :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

United utterly dominated for 60 minutes. They without a doubt should have went further ahead.

Bolton got back into after their equalised, but United's defence held out well.

Taught Giggs was unreal today beating two-three players at times.

Happy with Berba too have say made one great pass for Owen and also unlucky not score himself.

Valencia was decent enough still needs more time, but happy today.

Owen needs get bit sharper but again taught he worked hard.

Overall happy enough although liked kept lean sheet and United should not have had to panic in end like they did.

Great day with Chelsea and Pool getting beat.

    Id love to know what match the BBC were watching;
Manchester United moved top of the Premier League with a nervy victory over Bolton at Old Trafford.

The champions took an early lead when Michael Owen's header was deflected into his own net by Zat Knight.

After Antonio Valencia lashed home his first goal for United, the hosts looked to be cruising to the three points.

But Matt Taylor headed in from Kevin Davies' cross and Bolton began to flood forward in search of an equaliser, only to be denied by some dogged defending.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men will be mightily relieved to have secured the win, which was far from convincing but sees them go a point clear of Chelsea after the Blues were beaten at Aston Villa earlier on Saturday.

In fairness, since the 79th minute, United were under alot of pressure...even Fergie said so. I'd call that nervy enough. Put a damper on what was a resonable performance after that
