Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I still think he should pick a character and stick!! Lets be honest Daigo isn't going to spring any surprises on him

Why should he? Obviously he thought he had a better chance of winning if he pulled Fei out of the bag, and at the end of the day that's really the only thing that he should be basing his choices on.

I think he's pretty much out of options in terms of surprising character switches now anyway though.

Sanford ruined the Cammy switch for him!

They were saying in the commentry at some stage that he's going to be using Rose at a tournament coming up.

I think the major problem for Wong come from lack of competition. He is so far ahead of pretty much everyone else in America, that he doesn't get the chance to level up anymore. He so rarely gets beaten that he doesn't need to adapt in matches. Whereas Daigo faces great players that are equal to and better then him. This means that he needs to play a much better game.

Mago has the beating of him with Sagat, I wonder why Wong never went down that route?

During the commentary they said that Daigo recently played Mago in a 30 games set and beat him 23-7.

Think it was when Daigo was playing Joe that they said it.

Yeah, when Daigo was going even with the best Sagat in Japan months and months ago and seems to be able to beat him handily now, Sagat doesn't seem like a great choice. Wong's whole idea (I presume) was to hit Daigo with something he wasn't used to.

He has. He practiced quite a bit with Sagat as an attempted counter to Daigo. He has never used him though. Don't know why. Perhaps he feels he isn't good enough with him to compensate for Daigo's extreme knowledge of the match-up.

:eek: I guess the cream eventually rises to the top!

There is absolutely no way Wong would have a shot beating Daigo using Sagat imo. :pac:

They guy should stick to the boxer imo. He seemed to have Daigo on the ropes, well as much as you can have Daigo on the ropes, in that match.

Goin agree with Dreddy, no way Wong would stand a chance with Sagat.

Also I think by the end of the Evo final Daigo had Boxer pretty well figured so I don't think that would've helped.

I reckon Fei was a good choice as Daigo didn't know the match. But he learned so fast and then once he had some idea of what was going on in the match Fei isn't solid enough to go the distance.

From the top of my head, I would think that if he stuck with Seth then he would have the best chance. Seth is a console character so you get the surprise and Seth is at his best in high-level play. As someone said at EVO it's a lot easier to play Seth against a really good player then to use him against a random scrub.

Seths versatility in top level play is impressive but can he really last the pace with 700 stamina against Daigo??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

Good point. The ume shoryu would probly eat him alive. At this point though he's kinda run out of options.

he used to get stick for using chun in 3s so he said himself that hes gonna use other crowd pleasing characters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

I don't really buy that, I think Wong would use whoever he thinks will help him win. I just think he doesn't really play fireball/distance zoners and I think that comes from his marvel and 3S days.

Heard that as well. He really has an unnatural ability for learning how to fight characters.

Daigo v Wong series from Seasons Beatings 4. I really like Wong's Fei Long actually. Nice to see him used well.

That's the start of the finals, but not of the Daigo vs Wong tournament sets, as they played in the semis first of all. Not sure if the earlier games are up yet.

Yeh I'm not sure where to find or if it's possible to find films of the FT10 event between them.

The FT10 will supposedly be up "soon", so I guess wait a week.
Daigo won 10-2 though, so it's bound to be less exciting -- just like EC's trashing of WC at Bar Fights II.

Absolutely brilliant match that one Kirby, love watching that matchup when it's players of that calibre.
