I was looking forward to playing this as soon as i finished the 1st one, but thats not looking likely now. The game keeps freezing for me on Chapter 10, and if i cant finish this one, then i'm reluctant to start the next one.

Rent from xtravision and return one, saying it keeps freezing in chapter 10
    ..;)

I'm dont think its my copy of the game though. Its prefect as far as i can see (no obvious scrathes etc), and i've read that a lot of people had problems with it after the 3.0 firmware was released. I'm gonna leave it for a few minutes, see if it starts again, but i'm not hopeful after 5 minutes of nothing.

Ok, looks like there is an optional 3.01 firmware update that may fix this. Will download and try later today.

    Tbh, it wasn't that bad.

It's not a big leap from hard to crushing...unfortunately.

Hey guys, i just finished the game.
Its probably de best game ive played this year. (GTA 4 is my all time favorite :))

I beat the game on normal but i havent recieved the trophy yet. I got the trophy for easy and (the medal) very easy but due to some strange reason, i didnt get the trophy for normal !!! Any ideas as to why this is?

There is 1 chapter ( the second last one) that i completed on hard but everything else was completed on Normal.

Do you think i will have to beat the game all over again to get the normal mode trophy?

Yes you will have to play it over again. But do it on Hard. That way you will get the trophy for Hard and Normal.

I just realised that i cant unlock the weapons in the bonus section. I beat the game in normal mode !!!

    Any ideas why this is?

All i can offer is to scroll through the chapters to make sure you have completed all on normal, and that one you completed on hard go back and do it on normal. That should get you your ingame cash for completing it on normal but sadly not your trophy.

It's because you changed the difficulty in the game. If you start with Normal then you have to beat it on the difficulty level selected. You changing this means you didn't beat it completely on Normal

Just finished it this weekend. Thought it was brilliant. It was like playing an action movie. I was laughing at all the oh **** moments like
running across the bridge while it was breaking up part.
There was some brilliant set pieces throughout.

Even the general game play was much improved over the first. There was more of an emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving even if the puzzles were not too difficult. Some fantastic looking locations as well like the
temple in the city (Burma was it?) and the monastery and the final city.
. Also some of the ordinary shooting sections were inspired. One example were they mixed it up a bit was
in the city where Drake is hanging off a sign and he has to take cover on the front and back as enemies pop up below him from front and behind.
There was load more examples of this. I was never bored with the shootouts this time like i was at times in the first game.

Then also the cut scenes were brilliant. The voice acting was superb. Drake and
    Chloe
    really work well together.

Even one thing in the first game that people complained about
the zombies, this time they had similar fantastical enemies but they used them less and instead frightened the ****e out of the player at various times during the monastery section. That was really well done.

Just superb altogether. I must watch the bonus movies as well now. Heres hoping we might get another few games of this quality soon, if not ill be looking forward to Uncharted 3.

    NO CONTEST!!

Even MW2 will be meh after this. Like how can a fps that will probably be very linear in gameplay and have a short single player campaign compete with such a thrilling all round experience like Amongst Thieves. While I've been a great fan of COD since the first one on the pc about 5/6 years ago (I spent hundreds of hours playing United offensive online), I just don't think you get your money's worth from the latest incarnations. Listening to annoying kids talking sh1te on multiplayer is another turn off.

Oh Uncharted 3, please don't keep me waiting too long.

well uh.. look i've just begun but.. - anyone else enjoying the sightseeing more than actual gameplay?! Tibet looks great!
one plus for me in gameplay is how you can re-enter stealth by shifting your position after opening fire - or hide - but enemy AI is prone to being prone when they take cover. look i knew this wouldn't be my sort of game but it IS an enjoyable trek. kudos for making me want to see more, it is a graphical treat. what about hand-to-hand combat? looks good of course but lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,366 ✭✭✭Star Bingo

DANG this game's pickn up momentum. good ole Tibet.. - won't stumble across O'Searcaigh here will I?!
is ok am packing an Uzi..

-will return when i've finished it. *sigh*

Finally got the platinum trophy for this. My first ever!

This game really impressed me. It was the first game that i got to the end of my first play through (on Hard) and started it all over again from the beginning. From Hard to Crushing isn't that much of a change, but you do have to alter your tactics that little bit to get through some of the more hectic gun fights.

I nearly didn't finish the final boss, thought i was gonna snap the controller on many an occasion, but in the end it came good.

It was really refreshing to go back through the areas i needed to, to get treasure, other trophies on Very Easy after going through the game on Hard and Crushing. Having auto-aim just let you have fun, especially with the sniper rifle (hit L1 and look down the scope and you're looking at the guy you wanna kill, simple as that!)

Any way, that's the end of U2 for me. Haven't got into multiplayer that much. The co-op might be worth a look, but i've other games to move onto now (looking at you Demon's Souls).

Easily GOTY for me! Unless something else comes along to top it... Assassin's Creed 2??? But any game is gonna have to be very, very good to overtake U2!

the bane of 3rd person view i believe, lack of accuracy/crossheir responsiveness will always see that - said aspect titles will never really thrive on multiplayer i reckon - would probs have to be an out n' out game of hide n seek; perfect hand-to-hand combat system and NO guns imo..

ok maybe a sniper rifle, one cartridge!

The best PS3 game since the consoles launch.

looks amazing i must say. n possibly the most attention to detail ever - a lot of the game feels automated though.. but i can't really knock that as it's to keep with the cinematic vibe

resuming now. only played it in short bursts.. still only in Tibet so better lay off this thread lest i get done for 'trolling' ^^

    - on headbutting a foe Drake said " 'thats called the Glasgow Kiss". developers know their geography

EDIT: the train sequence.. - i don't even have time to see the sights. if you ever thought most developers were not making use of the cell processor / disc capacity, you'd be absolutely right. Naughty Dog has truly embarrassed them with this

Just finished it today. Excellent game, found the final boss very frustrating and repetitive though. Other than that it was amazing, gotta go through it on Crushing now :)

Also loved the little touch of flipping through the pages of Drake's journal, some of the pages/comments were pretty funny.

If you found the final boss frustrating on your first play through, you're gonna love it on Crushing...

On the second time round you can relax somewhat towards the end. The first time through, in the Monastery i was constantly expecting to be faced by a pack of guardians around each corner. You at least know what to expect.

and the credits roll... am sure it's gonna take a while, that reeked of massive production.. damn. now THAT was a campaign. n one hell of an adventure - few games in my 25+ years-of caused me to usher the words 'wow, that was f'n brilliant' but it owes a lot to tibet bein brilliantly rendered. nice touch gettn every trophy from hard mode below on completion. but then it was full of nice touches..

    - jeebz i'll miss tibet now. am entering that competition for sure

Where is the best place to get value for money on trading it in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,366 ✭✭✭Star Bingo

actual cash i dunno.. but trade-in for say, MW2 as i intend to it might be a good third to half the value

Starting my third play through now to try and mop up the rest of the trophies. What would you reckon is the best level for notching up the 200 GAU kills? As in, has the most enemies coming at you. I'd rather not waste a load of time killing 5/10, killing myself, then repeating until I get the trophy.

I'll give this until Tuesday, then it's MW2 frenzy!

I got it in Chapter 19. May take a few goes but just near the end of the chapter just restart checkpoint and keep blasting away.

Only about 20 hours in and taking a bit of a break since I'm a bit burnt out on Persona. TBH it's more the characters that I like than the story.

You can replay any level you completed and activate the "tweaks" in the single player store to spawn a GAU and infinate ammo and one shot kills......

The best level is near the end of the game in the temple where your at the top of the stairs and Schafer's men are fighting those blue ba$tards. If you stay up there the enemies will keep respawning forever.

Has anyone else gotten stuck into the scenery?

It only seems to happen if you are carrying a riot shield and use it to protect against a grenade.

I have found myself stuck inside steps, walls and pots.

Just finished this today, kind of a bittersweet moment...almost didn't want it to end, truly an epic game.
Some of the quotes from Drake are priceless and really add to the feeling that you're watching a big action movie!

Going to have to go through it all again, get the remaining trophies and treasures, brilliant game so I don't think I'll get too bored with it yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 sinabhfuil

I finished the game a few days ago on Hard. Excellent game. Tried my hand at team deathmatch on MP but i was terrible. Anytime i got close to an opponent i couldn't move and ended up being blown away. Also, they wouldn't drop even though i put like 100 bullets into them. That was frustrating. Will do better on MW2!

On being stuck during singleplayer, it happened to me once. I was jumping over to a balcony at the same time as Elena and I ended up with half my body under the balcony and the other half above, unable to move.

loved every second of it. playing it through again and prob gonna start the first one again soon!
