I went in to look for door stoppers and spotted HDMI cable instead :)

Its a Euro2 kind of new shop called 3-2-1 euro (something like that) in Moore street (Henry Street), near Lidl.

Towards the back of the shop they had quite a few 1m HDMI cables for €3 each. They are NOT glod plated but as discussed here pelnty of times, there's no point speding lot of money for shorter cables.

Also saw gold plated AV cables (3 pin ones) for €2. Again good price.

Gold Plated anything is worthless from an electrical point of view. Nearly completely worthless for Analogue (scart) stuff. Definitely worthless for digital based (HDMI) stuff. That's a pretty decent bargain anyway. Now for some 2 or 3 metre HDMI cables...

Got a reply late in the evening. So I ordered a 10m long HDMI cable through their ebay site. It's cheaper by €1 too! Finger cross, hopefully will get it on Wednesday so I can play PC games across the room on a plasma tv!

Thanks Khye. I did get a reply late in the evening and placed an order immediately after. Received the cable 2 days later. Works perfectly fine for connecting my PC to a plasma TV 10 metres away! :D

I got a 3m hdmi cable in Power City for €12, which wasn't bad.
Big respect to Power City for not stocking only the "premium" cables.

Quick Q, ( thanks for the reasonable pricing by the way )

    Are all of these HDMI 1.3 spec , 1.3a or 1.3b ??

Are they Category 1 ( Standard) or Category 2 ( High Speed) ??

Are all labels fully compliant with this ??

    TIA

    Hi,

All of the HDMI cables we have listed are 1.3b, Category 2

They are manufactured by a very reputable OEM company who has been in the business more than 10 years now.

All Certs are available and labels are fully compliant.

Hope this is of some help..

    ;-)

Tis indeed , they are the highest general spec currently available while a lot of cables are only category 1 and cannot carry fast and very high def signals reliably . Many shops do not sell category 2 but the 1/4 speed category 1 .

No HDMI 1.4 gear out yet
