Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been playing Fallout 3 and I'm really, really enjoying it. So much so that I'd like to play the five add-ons. I'm thinking instead of downloading all the add-ons off Xbox Live for 800 points each, it'd be cheaper to buy The Game Of The Year Edition for Amazon where it's £29.99 +p&p. I'm just wondering will the Game Of The Year edition of the game recognize my save files from the basic Fallout 3 disc. Does anyone know? Thanks

I don't know about how the GOTY Ed works with the save files. I presume it reads them like the game would, and allows you to carry on. I could be wrong though.

But it would be cheaper to buy the GOTY Ed online than download them. 5x800=4000 M$ points, which go for about 40quid? P+P would be very little to get it sent to you. Plus it saves space on the HDD.

that £ price isnt far off what 4200 points cost on live-codes.com , £32.99
however you could trade in your copy of fallout / sell on adverts.ie or what ever, and i would think the add-on's come on a separate disc plus you get a nice GOTY edition box . Are there any other things with the GOTY ed?

Also id be pretty confident the save would work also.

Also im 99% sure that you will need to install the add-on's for them to work , at least you did with the other add-on only discs that came out.

God I wish I could delete all memory of my 120+ hours of Fallout 3 and get the GOTY edition and enjoy it as if it was the 1st time I'd played it :(

I'd need 4000 Points to download which would cost €48. Even with P&P on Amazon it'd still cost under €40 and I could trade in my basic Fallout game.

Of course I'm just about to do the last mission of the game so downloading means I could continue immediately instead of waiting for the postman to come. Which choice would get me better Karma? Decisions, decisions...

    Xe.com puts 32.99 GBP (cost of 4200 points) = 36.1509 EUR

I say create a save now!!!! as there are achievements to be had there, + theres that scrap metal glitch to be exploited !!!!!!!!!!!

How much is it in Game or Gamestop?

I was thinking of getting the GotY edition, mainly since it's the only way to get Mothership Zeta on disc.

What are the odds I'd be able to get at least half of the price of the GotY by selling my normal F3 disc and the two DLC discs on adverts?

Do you need the original Fallout 3 to play the add-ons or do they stand alone?

Yes you need the original Fallout 3 for the add ons. With the Game of teh Year edition you get the add-ons on a second disc and you install them to your hard-drive.

It's supposed to be able to read your original save files but apparently a few people have had problems. I'm not sure, I bought the original on my PS3 and picked up the GOTY edition for my Xbox. Also there doesn't seem to be anything tying the add-on disc to a specific Xbox so if you have a friend with the original Fallout 3 you could probably give them the disc too. COuld save yerselves a few bob by splitting the cost between ye.

I opted for the Game Of The Year Edition. I installed the add ons and it works fine with my original disc. Thanks for all the advice
