    have an i pod but not hooked it up to linux yet, whats the best program to you will it just pop up like a hard drive ?

    what program do I use.

    Try GTKPod ...... but read to see if your device is fully suported ....

    V0.6.0 was the first release to support the iPod Classic and Nano Video. These models require a one-time setup of the iPod however, see the libgpod page for more details.
    There's also preliminary support for the iPhone and the iPod Touch but they must be jailbroken to work. You'll find more details in the NEWS file.

    Banshee ought to be good too, and I hear Songbird is a good substitute for iTunes.

    My brother has been asking me about his wife's iPod Nano 8GB, which doesn't seem to be recognised by Karmic Koala (I recently upgraded his laptop).

    I'm not sure if the newer iPods will work with Linux.

    I found these links that I passed on to him - but he said he's not really capable of this level of fiddling.:o
