Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Testing my new Metz 48 AF-1 flash

Last weekend I thought I'd use a party as an opportunity to get to grips with my new Metz 48 AF-1 for use with my Canon 400D and Sigma DC 18-50mm f2.8 EX Macro lens. I'm new to using flash, as the built-in flash always turned me off the whole idea except for fill-flash. The scene was in a darkened room of hardy partyers. I was impressed that I could adjust the flash exposure on the fly by pressing one of three buttons on the back. I experimented with angling the flash to roughly 50 degrees to get an attractive bounce off the ceiling and reduced the flash exposure to -1.7. The photo ended up f3.6, 1/60sec., with 2 metre focal distance, 24mm zoom, and popped up the useful built-in white reflector. After taking the photo (in RAW mode) I adjusted it only slightly in RAW Editor - particularly colour temperature, exposure and mid-lights and mid-darks. I then resized it to 700px wide (no cropping) and ran a subtle unsharp mask to make it pop.
