mortgage brokers do they all charge?

i used a crowd a few years ago, in the height of the boom, who were getting paid from the banks. now i went back to them and they dont offer this anymore, i have to pay them. now she wouldnt tell me the price over the phone, she HAD to post them out. does everyone charge these days? also looking for a site that will tell…

also looking for a site that will tell me who the best lenders are in terms of interest rates as i might as well apply to these directly?
