Will be visiting Donegal (Killybegs) this weekend and have some family coming from England who are eager to hear a bit of traditional Irish music. Does anyone know of anywhere that we might hear a bit of music between 25th & 30th Oct in the Killybegs area or is it out of season for this?

There is a traditional music session in Dunkineely which isn't far from Killlybegs heading towards Donegal Town. The session is on every Wednesday... You should have a good night there!

It's in a pub called 'McIntyres'... You won't miss it. It'll be on the right hand side (heading towards Donegal Town) and there will be a sign out on the street reading 'Traditional Music here tonight'...

Thanks for your feedback, we'll have some kids with us so 11pm session might not work as kids won't be allowed in the pub then! I've emailed the Killybegs Information Centre and asked them about local music too, but appreciate your info.

Pop into a pub early in the day and have a drink. Check with the publican on the children thing.(don't ring up the pub - you could be anybody). You might just find they ain't as strict as they should be on that matter.;)

It's Fleile Cheoil weekend in Carrick (12 miles from Killybegs) where you will get plenty of music over the weekend.

There is usually trad music in the Glen Tavern in the Glen of Glenties on a Saturday night with the Campbells leading the way. The last Saturday night of the month is the main night though

McIntyre's (Dunkineely) doesn't generally mind having kids in the bar, I've been there plenty nights so it's really up to you whether you want to have your kids up that late in a pub. If your around this weekend though I'd head into Carrick for definate! Hope to make a trip in with the fiddle myself!
