Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

First post in here, lurking a long time though, big fan of some of the work, some of which I find very inspiring, and others which just make me jealous!:D, and I am now looking to get a camera, naturally, ebay is probably the cheapest option.
My question is, what are peoples opinions on this?

Sorry if this sort of post is getting brought up time and time again.

Also, if anyone knows of any other, better:D, starter kits, please feel free to link me, or pm me or whatever, always a fan of a bargain!

for that money you would be better lurking in adverts/Photography Ireland and haggling for a bargain.....could get a 40D or 50D for around the same price as the ebay one you mentioned.

I have a friends Fujifilm S2 Pro with a dedicated flash and two nikon lenses - which might be good to start.....Personally I prefer Canon.

    Thanks for the replies,

have been looking around adverts alright, nothing there that caught my eye though, unlike a few months ago when I couldn't afford to buy:(
But I'll keep looking around anyway, see what I find, would you recommend something like a 5d for a beginner?, would have thought they were a little more advanced?

hey there i got myself a 1000d,reconditioned, off e-bay a few weeks ago now, its great still trying to learn all the settings yet, but it has a few preset functions, eg landscape, sports ect. it came with a free camera bag, 8gb memory card, external flash, memory card reader, uv filter, lense cleaning kin mini tripod and 57"tripod(both are worthless) and a standard 55m lense and wide angle lense and 2x magnifacition lense. all for £379. i think its a great camera possibally not themost advanced camera in the world but it does my job perfectly!

    Beware deliveries from Hong Kong:eek:

May not be such a bargain by the time Customs Duties and charges (for paying those duties on your behalf) have been added by the Courier Company.

There are still bargains to be had but try to focus on UK sites. Also quick check/google of any suppliers to see how good they are.
