dont forget when in camp you can distribute gear etc to all members of your group not just the 4 you mainly play.

    It's a great system.

    The camp is brilliant.
One thing that wrecks my head is trying to carry gear!

I just seen that in the wardens keep DLC it adds a chest to the party camp so you can store gear.

Im going to download that the minute i get home later.

I spend alot of time doing the tactics of my squad. If you set it up correctly, the AI will do what you want and you can concentrate on your own hero. Its basically just a bunch of If statements. If hero is being meleed, get the tank to taunt. If Tank health is below 25%, use health pot. If Elite mob is in range, get Mage to Crowd control them etc.

Occasionally I'll take control to move them out of AoE, but generally if you prepare them properly, they do a great job. The only problem is if they don't have enough tactics slots. I manually level my group up to stop the AI choosing daft and stupid skills. I noticed that the AI was insisting on getting potion making with about 10 of my party. :D moron.

does any1 have this for a console? Considering getting it for PS3 as we've stopped updating our PC specs. I'm wondering is there much disadvantages on consoles over PC?

Found the last 5 hours a total drag. Denerim is quite disappointing, as is the lead up to the climax. Quite thoroughly meh.

You can buy backpacks at some vendors which give 10 more slots.

You need to redeem your promo codes on the Bioware Social Network site first. Then in the game go into 'Downloadable content' and it should do it for you once logged into your account.

Has anyone played a Rogue?? Do they get better later... cos I'm finding he ends up being played pretty much like a weak fighter at the moment. Backstab isnt exactly setting the world on fire here (level 6) and other then that and stealth he just seems to be a fighter (ive taken two-handed weapon specialisations). He's not bad, dont get me wrong but just doesnt seem to have strong skills.

Has anyone played a rogue through to the end or high levels? Do they come into their own later (or should I reroll a mage :) ).

My first playthrough was with a rogue. Later abilities do add some nastiness.
Heavy use of stuns along with the ability to backstab from any direction if the enemy is stunned helps to up the damage rate. Also you can lay traps while stealthed if you're not too close to the enemy.

Also don't forget that under the the DA:O rules, rogues and even mages can happily wear full plate armour.

How does the the tactics ability work? Does it just give you you extra slots for your AIs? Is it worth doing at the expense of other skills?

I enjoyed being a rogue a lot my first play through.

You need to get momentum asap.

Go with a high cunning build and use two daggers to maximise dps, and always make sure you rape your tanks target from behind.

You're basically a slightly less complicated WoW rogue, so all the same rules apply.

The one thing to mention is that rogues only do single target dps, DW sweep and whirlwind aside - if you're having problems with large groups of trash, you may want a mage for the AOE.

What party set up are you playing?

A party involving a tank (presumably Alistair unless you use the respec mod), Morrigan and Wynne would best suit a rogue. You'll need mages for stuns and AOE to be of best use.

Melee rogue dps is pretty nice actually. Backstab is free, no energy cost and is constant. Your dps doesn't drop as much as other classes' does when you run out of energy/stamina which is part of the rogue's strength. You also draw less threat than a dps warrior does which is nice. Against heavily armoured foes a dagger wielding rogue is *lovely*. They need to be micromanaged though because the AI sucks at rogue positioning.

A melee rogue is viable on Nightmare difficulty so honestly I can't fault the class. I've found all classes so far to have their uses with archers being possibly the weakest (though not by much!) though others may disagree.

Ok I didnt realise rogues could wear anything they like...

I have Sten, Morrigan and Pagan (my dog), the dog is quite good actually, he has an AOE stun, a targetted stun and does nice damage in a fight. I kinda like him but they could have downgraded him and let you have another characters really, seems a bit mealy mouthed to make you use a slot for him...

    Mages are King.

When you get two with heals and dps, fights get much easier

Thankfully it's perfectly viable to go single Mage for healing even on Nightmare. A dps mage for CC/dps makes fights much handier though.

Meh I'm not mad on the dog (Minsc for me, my homage to Baldur's Gate :D). I find he takes way too much damage and far too easily. Before I dropped him he was always the first one to go down in a fight and rarely lasted to the end. Though maybe if I had kept him till I found some decent collars my opinion would be different.

Arcane Warrior ftw. Can't be hit. There's nothing I can't kill one on one.

eh... stoopid question time... I've given my Rogue lots of duel wield stuff but equipped him with two swords... um, does he need daggers to do backstabs?

Rogues wearing full plate, thats just wrong!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,516 ✭✭✭Outkast_IRE

I am a rogue and it does get easier as it goes on you need to get a mage with good healing in there i have wynne and morrigan so two good mages and alistar who draws all the attacks to himself.
However i like using the dog aswell i find the dog excellent when you send him into the enemy archers while the other 3 charecters take care of main fight. Half the time dog kills all the archers and comes back before main fight is over.

    Backstab is automatic.

    Daggers do more dps though.

    Really enjoying this so far.

It's really challenging, for example whilst seaching for the urn in Haven I was ambushed by 3 drakes.
It took me about 20 attempts to finally kill them, having to change my tactics every time. You really need to pause every second or two.

Currently stuck on the mirror battle in the same quest. There was a great scene just previous where you must answer some riddles "Of what is it that I speak?"

Got about half of them I think!

Off for another go at the mirror match, run completely out of health pots so it might be difficult.

    Edit: Beat the Gauntlet.
Decided to not pour the dragon blood in the urn and killed Kolgrim instead. Also killed that fkn brother on the way out(see video below)
That';s what I love about this game. You can choose every step of the way.
