Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wouldn't quite say that. Both teams have created feck all. Pool started playing with a bit of tempo the last few minutes although the passing has been very poor.

One fluke goal and the Lyon defence is a shambles.

    Should be 2-0.

Rafa will fix that at half time.;)

They are playing well in the last 15 minutes of the first half. could have been a couple more up.

Villa and Sunderland are my two biggest wins this season and villa was -1. Not much tonight though, part of an accu.

What's so confusing about that? Seems perfectly rational to me.

The score-line flatters us. Even though we had another excellent goal-scoring chance after the one we scored on.

Our passing (or inability to pass) has been SHOCKINGLY bad. I don't know if it's positioning of the intended receivers or what, but we have been awful. Even good passers such as Benayoun have been sub-par. Kuyt was one of the worst offenders of the misplaced pass.

N'Gog has been playing very well. He's been quiet, but has done everything you could ask from a lone forward. I'm glad he got the chance. He seems to have beefed up, and can put his weight about.

Kelly demonstrated what a difference having a full-back who can actually CROSS THE BALL can make in the 4-2-3-1. He's been quite good defensively as well.

Insua, on the other hand, has been near-awful defensively. Granted, he's matched up with a talented and speedy opponent but he has not covered himself in defensive glory, including some pretty awful positioning.

Mascherano has been excellent in his defensive duties, less so in his decision-making going forward.

Lucas has been OK. Some good creativity glimpses but not much more.

Reina is having almost as good a game as their goalie is having.

Carra and Agger have been good but not spectacular.

Lyons are a good passing team and they're dangerous. Defensively, they're actually ****e. We've been making their life way too easy with our crappy passing.

    nonsense.

they were 4-1. liverpool without they're top striker in awful form

but yea, it's easy to suggest it now.

Hardly an outrageous bet in fairness, Liverpool having lost their last three games and given the tasty enough odds on Lyon that were up earlier. I've certainly heard of, and indeed backed far sillier ones than that.

If you are backing them you back them as a single not in an acc'ie

4's was a decent price but if you take it your( i know it wasnt u) backing a team who are going to play for a draw at 4's

backing them next score for anyone fancied them before the game would not be the worst bet in the world

it never needed to be played apparently

Before you make such a bet, ignoring Liverpool's home record in the Champions league under Benitez (particularly frequency of home defeats in the group stages ;)), Lyon's away record in the Champions league, and the propensity of Liverpool to lose four straight games under Benitez seems pretty silly to me.

But hey, feel free to make such bets at your leisure. :)

lyon's away record is pretty impressive actually.

anyway it makes little difference the game has to be played and won

otherwise we'd just run a stats calc award the points and forget the game.

    Good post.
It still isn't really worthy of pouring scorn on either given whats been going on at Anfield the last few weeks, injuries etc.

Lyon have only ever won one competitive game on English soil, played more than a decade ago.

The result of the game doesn't affect the prematch probabilities of either team taking three points.

Yet Lyon can take confidence from a fine recent away record in the UEFA Champions League group stage, winning ten and losing just two of 15 UEFA Champions League group games on the road since 2004/05.

that's pretty impressive regardless of what country the soil happens to be in
