What Can I Use In Addition To Google's Strict Search Filter?

Hi,

My eldest kid is 9 and is starting to want to use the home laptop. At the minute, we're just using Google's Strict Search Filter setting, but I'd like more security from stuff I don't want him to happen upon.

Any advice/recommendations?

Your supervision..

There are programs out there that will limit what can be looked at, such as "Net Nanny" and stuff, but usually they're just a pain.

Best thing to do, is use the google strict search filter and keep an eye on him. When he's found some pages he likes, make short cuts/book marks for him (Nickelodeon etc).

And make sure if you've been browsing filth yourself, its not in the history

I have 3 kids and all of thm use the computer. I use Microsoft Family safety software.

In Vista or later you can also set up Parental Controls. Not special, but somewhat useful.
