Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Also does anybody know how much Dell charge for the upgrade cd? As in postage etc.?

    Upgrade Dates

Upgrade kits will begin shipping approximately two weeks after general availability of Windows® 7. Actual dates will vary based on language availability.

Launch day is the 22 of this month. Don't know about shipping costs.

tbh anything over €1 is wrong. They've been advertising free upgrades for months. But there's been stories on /. and El Reg about companies charging £30+ for the upgrade.

In my opinion a decent and fair postage charge is fine. When the vista upgrade was happening dell only charged me €6 which isn't too bad. Over £20 is really taking the piss though. It's a bloody cd not a whole new fecking laptop.

I'm on the upgrade site now, and they're charging €20 for postage!

€20 to post a cd from Limerick?! Bad form!

Wonder if the license keys on the Vista Laptops are in fact Windows 7 keys? If that's the case you could borrow a Windows 7 cd - and download the drivers from the Dell website

Well I keep getting this message
This system is not in our database yet. It can take up to 10 days from date of purchase for your service tag to be processed, so please try again at a later time. If more than 10 days have elapsed since date of purchase, please verify that you have entered the correct service tag and review the eligibility criteria.

It has been more than 10 days since I purchased (9 October) and my system is eligible. I want my Windows 7!! :(

I had the same problem with mine as well. You should get on to customer service about it.

Are there any potential banna skins installing a retail version of Win 7 Ultimate on a Dell Studio Laptop. My idea was to format the hard disk and do a complete clean install of Win 7, I'm just not that familar with Dell Laptops and am unsure if there may be something in the dells bios to prevent you using a non-dell oem o/s.
