I'm into my second week of waiting for vodaphone to swithch me to 7mb from Eircoms 3mb. Just noticed my router is now synching at 4mb instead of the 3mb still on the eircom By the way my stats are rubbish but I want the lower contention Downstream Upstream Max Allowed Speed (kbps) 4096 384 SN Margin (dB) 10.90 14.00 Line…

Contention is controlled by eircom, so it's the exact same on Vodafone.

It's less on eircom 7mbs so on Vodafones it is less too.
Oh yeah just rebooted router and now switched to vodafone just had to change the settings.

Thinking of getting a Speed Touch modems reports suggest that you can get a quicker synch if you are borderline also there is a tool called DMT which looks intresting
