i posted this on the mac forums to no avail

so im doing some stuff right now that literally calls for me copying and pasting some php code into a file saving it and uploading it to my server

i thought text edit would do this no problem but apparently not

i copied the code to text edit saved it as a text file(rtf i guess) changed the extension to .php and uploaded it and im getting syntax errors. is there a way to save it in text edit so it does not add or take away anything from the text and i can simply change the extension and upload it?

if not, is there an opensource app out there that will do what im looking for? i do have plans on learning php but right now i simply need to copy it from somewhere save it under the file name i want and upload it to the server as a .php

    any ideas?

I'd guess the server doesn't like RTF encoding?
To save a file as plain text, choose Format > Make Plain Text (or press Command-Shift-T) to convert the file, then choose File > Save As.
Then change the extension, upload, and check.
