I'm a diehard Pro Evo fan, but not hugely impressed so far, although I've only had 2 games.

One positive is that the penalties actually take some skill it seems. Has anyone hit a penalty yet? I hit my first 3 over the bar!

Hey lads, hope your all enjoying the game!
Got a question and I thought i'd ask it here. I have the game for the pc and something is bothering me, I had it in the demo version too. Slow dribble is Right Trigger (on a controller) but it doesn't feel very much like close control at all, In fact it almost feels like Left Trigger and Left Bumper do the same thing as Right Trigger, is it like this for you lads?

Edit: Kinda seems like the best way to dribble now is to not use any of the trigger buttons, myabe use slow dribble to just change direction to get away.

The edit mode is there on the menu but I can't edit anything, just the League/Cup and the Stadium names.

EDIT: Fixed it. I wasn't signed in. They don't let you edit otherwise.

Ive just squeezed in 3 games and while its very different, I think i like it. Most of the old Iss Pro's and early Pro Evo's were a bitch to get the hang of when you first got them and this seems abit like that again. Once you do get to grips with it, its very rewarding. Most of the recent editions have been easy to pick up and play and I always just picked up where I left of from last year.
    Not this time.

Ive played 3 friendlies and won 3 on regular difficulty. Its abit easy as defenders dont fight ya tooth and nail for the ball so I'll be upping it to Professional at the very least.

It seems quite slow, which I like. But after years of bombing around pitches with players like Ronaldo n Ronaldinho, it feels weird that this year they seem like mere mortals and can be caught by DFs without alot of difficulty. Also the "R2 - roll the ball left or right" trick which made getting past DF's so easy is now severely curtailed. Its like most things in PES 2010, slower and less effective.

Ill wait on a good option file before I get into the meat of it - Master Lge

What console are you playing on?

I wasn't signed in on the ps3 but I was able to edit everything.

This game is so much better, the game play has been slowed down so its not like a arcade game anymore its back to being a footy sim. Passing has been improved once you get used to the new controls ( L1 makes you take the ball into you rather than you stopping. Lots of people are complaining about it being clunky but thats down to them not using the buttons correctly. You really have to work to score now. The passing with the R analogue stick is brilliant you can spread it around like Gerrard now switching the play with a single flick.

Master league has REAL MONEY !!!! no more points you get sponsorship you get gate receipts you pay proper wages to players and staff. Player negotiations have been improved it has loads of good manager parts to it.

Tactics and playing style can be worked on to further reflect your own style of play.

Over all im very impressed it looks good it plays good the improvements are welcome additions, its a return to form.

Fifa still is and allways has been for the Sky sports generation who are more used to watching football on sky than playing it for real.

    I'm impressed with this game:

The tactics in a game are actually represented in the game. I was Arsenal and played Burnley on top player. I played the default tactics for Arsenal and went 1-0 down at half time. Went to gamplan and kept all my defensive players 'defence minded'. I told them not to push up on the attack. Next I brought down player support, just to give the man in possesion a bit of space. Finally I allowed Walcott and Arshavin to run down the wings. Went into the 2nd half and noticed the changes straight away. Came away with a 3-1 win :D.

I know it was Burnley, but it's the start of something beautiful.

So L1 lets you take a pass in your stride essentially?

Its amazing I have gotten away with not using R2 or L1 for this stuff throughout all the Pros.

    Whats R2's purpose?

I still haven't gotten round to using the stick - Right or left.

Yea thats pretty much it if you have your back to goal they will roll with the ball aswell to turn defenders.

Pressing a different direction and R2 when you are sprinting will knock the ball ahead. For example if you are sprinting and holding just right pressing R1 & r2 and diagonally right and up will knock the ball to one side of the defender into space. It can give you a yard of space for a shot.

Im loving the game so far...

Animation is quality looking, you can identify the players so easily...

Gameplay is new and needs getting used to but is well worth it...

MasterLeague is amazing, realy money, youth academy, a scout which helps you sign players... differnt levels of scout/doctor/physio ranging from couple of hundred thousand to 5million... all with different attributes... (scout can help you get a player for cheaper, the better he is, can also tell you if a deal is likely...)

Revenue from sponsorship deals aswell as gate receipts... Bonus from your sponserships too like "Win La Liga, recieve 7million"

Really enjoying it, its hard which is perfect, who wants to win 7-0 all the time...

Playing with Barca on 'Top Player'... drew 2-2 with Athletico first game...

I'm about to sign Villa for €60,000,000... although I think its a bit steep, but plan on playing Villa, Ibra, Messi upfront...

You can specialised training for players, so I plan on converting Villa to a WF/CF...

And heres an option file from pesfan site by 'Rosh'... Its quality has all the transfers, kits, player names etc done. The man is a legend, spent 15hours getting it sorted...

    http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=73442

Im really excited about playing pro evo this year for the first time in yonks!

I know a few people are giving out about the game, but seriously keep an open mind, the demo meant nothing... its a new game with a new style of play, give it a chance... dont rate it on 2 games!

Anyway people hit me up on PSN for some games, "Fly13" the online is working perfectly... (which cant be said for a certain rivals servers *cough* Fifa *cough*)... which makes a change!

Yeah its great. Played a few games with a friend last night and we really enjoyed it. Graphics are amazing, best looking football game ever made. Played 3 1v1 games online, 1 was bad the others were ok, not lag free which is disappointing but alot better then previous versions. But the best thing is the way you and a friend (in the same room) can play online - class feature, we kicked ass last night, great fun.

Yeah, while the animations arent up to the fluidity of FIFA, the player faces are astounding. As was said before Rooney looks much better in PES than he does in the game he actually endorces!

The words "photo-realism" have been bandied around for years but with the player faces in PES this year, some are actually freakishly life like.

Does anybody know if there are any 360 copies left in Jervis? I'm feeling pretty sick today and don't want to venture in if they don't have any.

I can't score in this game at all, it's too hard

....and am lovin' it :D Definitely enjoying playing PES again for the first time since 2006. Top Player level in Master League (which is pretty slick in of itself) really makes you work harder and play smarter. The slow down in buildup play has helped immensely I reckon. Long range shots, long range passing and crossing seem to have come on leaps and bounds as well.

Some minor presentation issues aside, this edition is definitely a step in the right direction for me.

Haven't tried the online component yet, so can't comment.

I think the opposite, its easier to score in front of goal, but harder to get there..

I find it the same. I have regularly mashed opponents 4/5-0 on top player.

Bleeding hard to get into the positions but when you do its simple to knock it in.

It also irks me when the ball hits the keeper and still goes in when it should be a simple save.

But I'm liking the fact my defenders don't tackle for me and give away penalties...used to drive me to the brink of insanity the last time round

The online is perfect so far... I've played 3 games... one guy from turkey had red connection and mine was on yellow but it worked 99% perfect... beat him 3-0!

No lag, Im using NAT 1 by logging straight into the modem! Well done Konami at last!!!

I just tried online and must say, I really am considering returning this to Tesco (Jervis btw if anyone is after a 30e copy).

Online menus are horrible, you can't seem to tell what a person's connection is like until you join them. Anyway, it was a joke last night so I tried a game or two today with my wired connection. Players still appear past you men, response times are way, way down. Just played against a few Barca players, Messi untackleable so he just shoots - keeper parries to one of their players and goal. Or with Ibra, if he gets an ounce of space outside the box (30 yards out) they just shoot on sight and in it goes. 5 goals from him in 3 goals this way.

Its a joke, don't play it online or you will just feel like snapping the disc inside.

Offline, has anyone tried the training option? Do it, pick the free kick option and try to score a few Free Kicks in training. I have been doing this since PES 2 (it was more fun when there was a training competition but anyway) and today I scored one free kick in around half an hour (tried it with Duff at first and assumed it was the game saying he was ****, moved on to Xavi, Villa and Alonso but no joy). They seem to have been made utterly useless. I mean, I am decent at them in previous games but If only 1 goes in that many attemtps in training then what is the point of trying in a real match?

    The patch better fix online.

What NAT type are you on? I had no problem with online! I've had a few free kicks which have hit the crossbar and post... practice makes perfect!

How are you choosing your opponents online? Quickmatch?

I am wired with a NAT type 2. No problems on any other games I am afraid.

As for the practice thing, advice that would ait easier with me had I not pumped 50+hours into pes2-2008 (less in 2009) and found that training mode to be a delight.

I mean there are still only 5 button alterations

    Very hard (hold UP)
    Hard (Press Triangle)
    Weak (press X)
    Very weak (hold down)

    as well as normal square.

I can barely get them on target in training mode.

I challenge someone here to go into training Free Kicks for ten minutes and then come back and tell me I am crazy.

you're crazy. was using ronaldo. hit the target most times and score a decent percentage of them.
