SEI and re-registrations for BER assessors who change jobs

SEI charges €1000 + 21.5% VAT to register Assessors

    They do this each time

    1. An assessor is employed
    2. An assessor changes employment
    3. An assessor moves to/from self employment

    Example

You are employed - as an architect , qs , engineer , plumber whatever
€1215.00 to SEI - paid by the boss

    You move jobs
€1215.00 to SEI - paid by the new boss

You lose your job and go self employed
€1215.00 to SEI - paid by you

    You are hired again
€1215.00 to SEI - paid by the new boss

    Good - isn't it ?

    ridiculous situation....

if registration fees are paid, why does your employee / self employed status matter at all !!!!!!

i think a strongly worded letter to the ombudsman may be in order....

Agree 100%. This is bang out of order by SEI. If fees are paid they are paid. I am no legal expert, but I would question how they can get away with this or how this could stand up under scrutiny....Do SEI realise we are in a recession, assessors who work in architects offices are losing jobs, trying to find new jobs etc. The status regarding employment is changing for most assessors. At this rate the fee would have to be paid 2,3,4 times. Paying that amount once is bad enough. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. SEI are turning the knife here...

    It's a simple formula really -
SEI = Public Service (ie big salaries, small workload, lots of holidays, no reponsibility, huge pension, plenty of sick time, strong unions, can never be fired, plenty of time to think up ways to keep sticking it to someone in the private sector)
BER assessor = Private sector (ie enuff said!)
Come the revolution this will all change.

Given the environmentally friendly nature of the business we are discussing I assume it will be green?
