Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think this is a great example of HDR. For me HDR is a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it :)
This is so much nicer to look at than the original.

Although I'm not a big fan of kids pics, this one caught my attention. What an expression and those two big bottom teeth coupled with the grin makes it work for me. Nice shallow dof to throw the background out of focus makes this a great portrait.

Difficult to choose as you have quite a few that caught my eye.

Firstly the blurriness and lower quality of this pic adds to this.
It feels that we are peeking into this boys life and can feel the excitement he is feeling.
He is just taking the night in and stretching out his arms.

Looking through your images, this one caught my eye. The expression on the guy on the Accordion is really good & I like the OOF fiddler in the background. It has a feel of movement. If it were my shot I would crop both left & right to remove distractions but still a good capture.

This one;

907331692A1146569A25B013F02D0532.jpg

Love the black and white conversion. The contrast is quite exquisite and sensitive to the subject matter. If i'm not mistaken I saw this hanging on the wall of the Gaol at the exhibition???

The spirals and shapes are very catching and nice use of a little negative space.

Pretty cool indeed.

Yes, aesthetically speaking, it may not be your best image, but I think the emotion you captured here more than makes up for it. And lets be honest, if photography were all about aesthetics, we'd all be making HDRs :pac: Great capture!

Love the colours in this, orange blue and a touch of rich green. The way the peasants are spread around the image is really good too, and the two in the foreground help give it all a sense of motion. I can really sense the air and space around them.

There are so many great shots in Valentia's Pix.ie that it's tough to pick just one. However, I like this one for a number of reasons. Apart from knowing the chap, it's quite a striking portrait. He's playing a part in The Plough & The Stars - hence the make up. The strong lighting works well here and the forlorn expression on Colin's face just adds to the atmosphere of the shot. The tight crop leaves no clue as to what's going on around him which adds to the mystery.

You don't have to go far into pullandbang's stream to find great stuff, I really like the variety: dogs, fishermen, shooters, a girl with her head on its side taking a picture at a wedding, but this one below caught my eye for its surreal quality, particularly eery and you half expect to see apocalyptic horsemen emerging from those mists.

I like this a lot. Focus is something to be played with and "in focus" is just one option on that big scale. Good blurryness gives this image a bit of abstract sexyness.

Whoa! 15 pages of albums!
There were many, many candidates but in the end I selected this one.
The clouds are fantastic and they just add to the silhouetted foreground and water smears to create a cracking photo.
It looked like a great day for snapping shots.

ha ha, stabo i had spent 15 mins looking through longshanks pictures and that was my favourite photo too ! i wasn't able to post it up either so i didn't bother replying. i went through all the sets hoping i wouldn't having to pick one from 'most interesting' but i ended up back there ! i love the way the foreground drags you into the photo - a very interesting take on the usual beach type shot.

stabo - my favourite is the burren.

edit, ok pix is different to flickr (i'll try and get the photo up)

edit again - i've read the FAQ's and there should be a code under the photo after i click on sizes ? i cant see any code so i've posted a link - sorry.

WG has some fantastic landsacpes from Canada and I was sorely tempted to choose one but then this caught my eye. What a shot!
Full of movement and power and works so well in B & W. The timing is perfect as he's not fully out of the water yet leaving some of the tail hidden but showing the power needed to make the push. The curve of the body is graceful making it all seem so effortless. It's a beautiful shot.

To find a flickr image on a page:

1. view the source of the page first

2. search for this text

<!-- CONTENT TABLE -->

3. Look for the first reference to something like

"<img src="http://farm3.static..."

That "http://farm3.static" is the image url.

• Hosted Moderators Posts: 4,948 ✭✭✭pullandbang

Actually I've just discovered that from flickr if you open the image, right click on it and select PROPERTIES it opens a pop up box (firefox browser). You may need to drag the right hand side to make sure you can see the .jpg extension on the Location field.

Then just hightlight it and back in the boards reply box, click "insert image" and paste the location url in the box.

TBSteve's photostream is relatively short but almost every image has a cracking sense of photography mixed with a healthy dose of humour.

I like the following one of Belfast City Hall;

B2FBD366E8124D0A86CDF310751A9F8C-800.jpg

I love the colours and lighting on the building and the big wheel caught in the background enhances the image. I also like the strong lineage of the paths around the building. A nice angle and some nice framing in the scene with the branches also. Very nice.

The other one I wanted to post particularly for the humour factor is the house of fraiser one. It may be NSFW depending on your work place, but eitherways I'd say the stream is well worth a browse for people.

My pix.ie here

In light of recent developments I better watch what I say here! :p

I'm being a bit biased here because Trim Castle is on my doorstep. However this shot of ACD's is moody and mysterious. The B&W treatment works well. Some nice framing with the gorse bush in the foreground and the water of the moat leading you through the photo. The background behind the castle fades away and you'd think you were in the middle of nowhere rather than the middle of town.

I really like this shot Barry. Pretty sure you've posted a few different processed ones (or am I going crazy?). This is my favourite though. Great processing, almost painting-like but not so far as that you actually question it being a photo/painting. Everything is going off in different angles which usually would leave the photo lob sided but I feel everything works really well here. The flagpole at a slant and the great flag! Yummy!
