Fiat Ducato rear shock absorber problem

    Hi all,
My trusty 95 Burnster on a Ducato 1.9 TD chassis is in need of 2 new rear shocks as the top end bushing seems to have degraded. The problem is that there does not seem to be a weight rating on the existing shocks and when buying replacement ones there is a choice between 1000kg's, 1400kg's or 1800kg's.
Can anyone advise on the correct shock absorbers to purchase please?

With the VIN number at hand your parts dealer should be able to identify the correct shock

    If you've 16in wheels you have a 1.8t chassis . The 15s and 16s aren;t interchangeable .

Pwersonally I'd order the 1400 if you're on 15s , the 1 ton ones are very very rare . Normally only on the short wheelbase 1.9d and TD chassis's (like the Talentos) . Heavier duty shocks , or more correctly Dampers won't make feck all difference to comfort .

    Hi Tseacha,

would you not just change the rubber bushings. If your not putting up huge mileage, you will probably get another few years out of the rear shocks,

    regards,

Thanks to all for the help. As regards changing the rubber bushings on their own. I'm not too sure if they are sold seperately. I'll chech with the local motor factors.
