Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Folks,

I'm off to NY in a few weeks time and have my eye on a Nikon D5000.

    Two questions :

    - Any opinions on this camera
    - Any guidance as to the best priced bricks & mortar store in NY to purchase ?

best lowest price store would be B&H.

Seconding B&H. They're on 43rd and 9th if memory serves, it's like Smyths for camera enthusiasts. They're closed Fridays and Saturdays if memory serves as they're a Jewish store. Seriously good savings to be had! Just make sure you unpack everything and get rid of the packaging before you leave the country <SNIP>!

You could always just post home the empty boxes:)

the only thing about the camera you might want to be aware of is it does not have a built in AF motor, which limits your AF lens choice down the line. Lenses with motors in them usually cost more.
You might consider a D90 if this a concern for you. The D90 cost a bit more but will give you less expensive lens options down the line.
